Whitening toothpastes from Thailand and reviews on their use

Today's popular toothpastes purchased in Thailand turn out to be far from being as safe as we would like ...

Toothpastes from Thailand are today, so to speak, a popular trend. Connoisseurs of natural and especially oriental medicine, lovers of trying something new, and just bloggers and travelers actively praise these products for their friends, aspirated calling exotic ingredients - mangosteen, miswak, lindau ... And for those who have not tried Thai toothpaste in action, it remains only to envy that they brush their teeth with simple Colgate or New Pearls, and not with herbal miracle paste with guaia extract and borneol ...

So maybe it's still worth buying a jar of fashionable means?

The desire to buy an exotic remedy is fueled by the promises of manufacturers and sellers echoing them: whitening thai toothpaste according to the assurances of trading agents, tooth enamel is whitened already in 2-3 applications, and herbal pastes, according to the same promises, include only natural ingredients that relieve gum inflammation and bleeding in a couple of days.

Especially in great demand are Thai whitening toothpastes, which promise a snow-white smile after just a few uses of the product.

Meanwhile, the vast majority of buyers of such toothpastes not only do not consult a doctor in advance about the safety and effectiveness of using these products, but, even observing some undesirable effects, continue to persistently brush their teeth with Thai exotic. If you do this without understanding the mechanism of the tool (as well as how and in what situations they should be used), then in some cases you can seriously harm tooth enamel and gums.

This is also confirmed by individual reviews of ordinary people who tried to brush their teeth, for example, with the same whitening toothpaste from Thailand.

A characteristic feature of many toothpastes sold in Thailand is their packaging in small round jars.

Feedback

“We lived in Tay for a month, just went there to relax. My husband was added to the usual vacation for two weeks unpaid, so it turned out a real trip. So, we bought a local toothpaste whitening with noni there. It’s just that it is sold in such pretty jars, everyone recommends it, and it costs a penny. We decided to try brushing our teeth instead. But my husband gave up in a week, and I in two. She literally breaks her teeth! She tastes good, I don’t know if she is natural, but it seems that she doesn’t smell any special chemistry. But after a week of regular cleaning, it is impossible to drink cold water - your teeth hurt. And the brush hurts. The edge of the mouth immediately gets full of all the fruits. I think she just erases the plaque with her teeth, so they start to hurt. But we tied up with her and returned to the Aquafresh taken from Peter ... "

Anya, St. Petersburg

Thai toothpaste often often has a pronounced effect on the teeth, but this effect is far from always beneficial. But first things first…

Thai pasta features

An essential feature due to which almost any Thai toothpaste is more preferable in the eyes of domestic retailers is its low price. You can buy goods individually or in bulk, not only in Thailand, but also through the Internet, and when buying in bulk, one jar will cost only about 10 rubles (respectively, the cost is even lower).

If you buy pasta in bulk, then the price per piece will be very low.

Not all Thai pastas are packaged in jars - some are sold in regular tubes.

Subsequently, these pastes are sold in Russia already at the prices of their competitors in Russian or European production (that is, with a wrapping up to 1000%). Or a little lower - specifically in order to increase demand.

On a note

The average price at which Thai toothpaste is sold in Moscow is approximately 150 rubles per jar. However, if you wish, you can easily find and buy it for 100-120 rubles.

By the way, the cost of a product below 10 rubles per jar is a separate interesting question. How do you manage to achieve such a low price? Part of the answer to this question can be obtained when you consider that the composition of many toothpastes from Thailand includes alumina (in simple terms, clay) as an abrasive polishing system. Yes, alumina is a powerful abrasive that can erase not only tooth enamel, but also sharpen hardened steel, but who cares? After all, if we say that the product consists entirely of natural components (and clay - than non-natural raw materials), then people will buy.

It is clear that getting super profit from their goods, sellers literally overwhelm them with online stores. But for pastas to sell well, they must also have some useful properties (or seeming useful). And they have them:

  1. Whitening ability. And it is she who is best known for - toothpaste from Thailand is often bought in order to bring a smile to Hollywood snow-white in a week.
  2. Natural composition - in addition to the aforementioned alumina, the composition may also include extracts of herbs, fruits and other plant materials (why, in fact, pastes are called herbal). All this gives the product some antiseptic properties, due to which the prevention of caries and gum disease is carried out. None of the photographs below show an example of herbal toothpaste, which is whitening at the same time:Thai Herb Paste Example
  3. Strong aromatic components in the composition, providing fresh breath.

In addition, almost every second Thai toothpaste has an original and very exotic taste and smell. Such exoticism is a wow factor, often becoming the main reason for choosing a product by a buyer.

Feedback:

“I tried Thai toothpaste, not in Thailand itself, but on my arrival home. Cleans normally, like all regular pastes. But I was attracted to their composition. For example, I bought myself with a mangosteen and peppermint, a very interesting and pleasant taste. In general, there are a lot of these pastes, there are mangoes, with guava, camphor. ”

Tatyana, Moscow

A special form of packaging gives the product additional unusualness. Many toothpastes sold in Thailand are packed in round jars, from which the contents need to be scooped up with a special spatula or brush (however, you should not do this with a brush, since each time you will bring a portion of bacteria into the jar).

It is highly undesirable to take toothpaste from the jar directly with a brush, as this causes regular contamination of the product with bacteria.

To pick up the paste from the can, special plastic spoons are used.

Some pastes have a very thick consistency, and for normal brushing you need to take very little - this makes the product even more economical, increasing the time spent.

And another important feature of Thai toothpastes is the abundance and diversity of their types.

Types of Toothpastes from Thailand

One of the most famous brands of toothpastes imported from Thailand are, perhaps, Twin Lotus and 5 Star. Moreover, the first is known for producing pastes in "normal" tubes.

The following varieties are available among Twin Lotus products:

  1. Twin Lotus Active Charcoal Toothpaste - with plant extracts and bamboo charcoal (sometimes written - activated charcoal). The composition includes an extract of guava, cloves and mint, as bactericidal and anti-inflammatory components, as well as bamboo charcoal to cleanse teeth from plaque. The paste has an unusual black color (see the photo below).Thai Toothpaste Twin Lotus Active Charcoal Toothpaste Twin Lotus Active Charcoal Toothpaste contains coal, so the product is black.
  2. Twin Lotus Premium fluoride-free, with bone cuttlefish - positioned as a whitening toothpaste.Twin Lotus Premium (no fluoride)
  3. Twin Lotus Day & Night - a set of two herbal toothpastes (for protecting teeth day and night), which include extracts of miswaka, murai and clinakanthus.

The original Twin Lotus Day & Night set contains two toothpastes at once - for use in the morning (afternoon) and in the evening (night).

5 Star are already typical Thai pastas sold in round jars. The following varieties are available:

  1. Toothpaste with coconut and herbs, designed to care for sensitive teeth;
  2. Refreshing with noni fruit;
  3. Simple whitening with mint flavor;
  4. A paste with papaya extract, which, according to the manufacturer, helps to successfully combat plaque formation and tartar.

The photo shows an example of another popular toothpaste from Thailand - The 5 Star.

Also on sale in Thailand, in some places in Moscow, St. Petersburg and in online stores there are pastes from other manufacturers:

  1. ISME RasYan Herbal Clove - paste with cloves, which has a powerful antiseptic and cleansing effect;
  2. Abhai Herbal Toothpaste, which includes mangosteen and guava.
  3. Siam Herb Extra Virgin - a brown toothpaste from Thailand (with mangosteen, calcium carbonate, sodium bicarbonate and camphor). Its main effect is bleaching and bactericidal.
  4. AIMTHAI Organic Herbal Toothpaste ALL IN ONE - with tea tree extract. It is called universal due to the fact that it has a preventive anti-carious effect and at the same time promotes teeth whitening;
  5. Punchalee Herbal Toothpaste with patchouli flavor.

In the photo below - Thai paste Siam Herb Extra Virgin:

This paste has a brown color.

To attract a buyer, manufacturers declare in the properties of pastes almost everything that can contribute to sales, since there is no strict certification of products. The lack of strict control allows you to specify in the composition only those components that will positively affect the decision to purchase.

On a note

For example, many herbal pastes, for which a completely natural composition is claimed, would simply deteriorate when stored without the appropriate preservatives. In addition, they would not foam and have a reduced cleaning ability without the presence of synthetic surface-active substances. However, will a smart producer write on a jar of paste: “Preservatives, sodium lauryl sulfate”, when you can write: “Herbal paste, exclusively natural ingredients”.

Sellers and online stores usually just repeat everything that the manufacturer says, absolutely not going into the verification of the truth of the statements. To figure out what qualities this or that toothpaste really possesses can only be done in practice by buying a product and trying it.

Feedback

“... Such jars in Thailand are sold at every turn. Inside, highly compressed powder, but does not crumble. It bleaches very well, not up to the toilet whiteness, of course, but it is immediately visible. Of the minuses - a lot of foam, directly rushing from the mouth, spitting it, and she rushing again, as if she had shampoo in her mouth. And too vigorous, the effect of freezing lips, and if it falls on the chin, then it goes numb. Strange effect. I cleaned twice a day for a week, there was a slight bleeding of the gums. Although I didn’t spit out my teeth, as in advertising, I realized that I need to use it less often. ”

Olya, Novosibirsk

Use Thai pastes with caution, as some of their properties may well lead to problems with dental health.

When brushing your teeth with Thai toothpastes (if you still decided to try exotics) you need to be very careful: the product does not pass any control according to international standards and, as noted above, the correspondence of what is written on the label to what is at the bank is not strictly checked. Some Thai toothpastes can actually be dangerous and harmful to use, especially if they are not used correctly - for example, regularly several times a day.

On a note

Do not confuse Thai and Chinese toothpastes. There are a lot of Chinese toothpastes: from whitening to medicinal, and many of them are kind of clones of famous European brands.

Many Chinese pastes can be bought today via the Internet, but judging by the reviews, their effectiveness for solving various problems with teeth does not exceed that of the usual domestic products.

Do they really bleach?

Thai toothpastes really bleach the enamel, and in some cases the effect becomes noticeable just a few days after the start of use. We are talking about mechanical whitening (lightening) of the surface of the teeth by removing pigmented plaque from the enamel.

Such whitening toothpastes from Thailand can really be removed quite quickly.

Tartar often accumulates on the inner surface of the lower front teeth.

Feedback

“Toothpaste from Thailand is just super! No other paste provides such whitening. In the clinic, my teeth were whitened with some special compounds, then they covered the enamel with gel, and after that everything began to literally stick to my teeth.I drank coffee - my teeth darken, I just ate - they became even yellower than steel. I was already really scared. On the advice of a friend, she bought Thai pasta in a small jar, a week she brushed her teeth, so they even became cleaner than after the clinic. I didn’t expect it. True, the taste of this pasta is specific, but it should be tolerated. ”

Olga, Moscow

However, such a powerful whitening using Thai toothpastes has its negative properties - you can simply erase a layer of tooth enamel along with pigmented plaque, exposing dentin. This, in turn, will lead to increased tooth sensitivity and a number of other problems.

Imagine the situation: a person’s teeth initially have increased sensitivity (hyperesthesia), there are wedge-shaped defects in the cervical region, and he frantically brushes his teeth twice a day with a stiff toothbrush using a Thai whitening toothpaste. In general, to put it mildly, nothing good will come of it and, most likely, such a person will soon be in the dentist's chair.

In the presence of wedge-shaped defects, the use of a whitening toothpaste with high abrasiveness will only aggravate the situation ...

Too many toothpastes from Thailand contain alumina as an abrasive. Even if it is not explicitly indicated in the composition, then in the list of components you can often find titanium dioxide, aluminum oxide and silicon dioxide - the constituent clay. Sometimes they just write: “white clay”. Moreover, not one paste indicates that during its preparation the abrasive component underwent a special treatment to round the corners of the crystals, which would ensure less damage to the enamel when brushing your teeth.

Obviously, after brushing your teeth with such a “clay-containing” composition, the plaque layer, along with a certain amount of enamel, will literally be stripped off with abrasive components. The visual effect is obvious - the teeth will really turn white. And in parallel, they will begin to hurt and sharply react to cold, hot, sour, and even simple chewing of rough foods.

However, if your tooth enamel is naturally healthy, if you don’t know what tooth sensitivity is, and you don’t have wedge-shaped defects, but there is a layer of the so-called “smoker's plaque” and tartar, then neat and rare use of Thai whitening tooth pastes can be considered quite safe.

Clay, which is part of Thai pastes, removes not only pigmented plaque, but also partially the tooth enamel.

Feedback

“I, in the wake of all this hype with Thai pastas, bought myself a jar. How beautiful they write about the natural composition and herbs! But in fact, when I dug deeper, I found out that sodium lauryl sulfate is in the composition. The one that is used in cleaning products, which foams and from which stomatitis develops. So much for the natural composition. Started to understand further. In reviews, people write that the paste really cleanses, but after it the teeth become sensitive. This is a complete hello. That is, this is not a paste, but just some kind of liquid sandpaper. What can I say about my experience? There is no experience. I took it on my finger a little, soaked it, saw how it was soaping and foaming, so I immediately threw out the whole jar, did not take risks. ”

Thai Toothpaste Rules

First of all, you need to understand that whitening toothpastes, especially Thai ones, which have very high abrasiveness, are contraindicated for use by people with increased tooth sensitivity. The second important point - even if everything is fine with your teeth, then you should not use Thai whitening toothpastes too often (once a week will be enough).

Those Thai toothpastes, which are sold in regular tubes, are used in the same way as any others - they are simply squeezed out in an amount from about a pea onto a toothbrush and thoroughly brush all teeth.

Thai pastes in tubes are used as usual - squeezed directly onto the toothbrush (moreover, it is better to use a small amount).

But pastes from round jars are more difficult to use. Firstly, they need to be used in much smaller quantities - literally at the tip of the bristles of the toothbrush, the paste is drawn from a can (not with a brush, but with a special spatula) and immediately applied to the surface of the teeth. The first few seconds, until the composition foams, you need to brush your teeth very gently and accurately.

Whitening pastes from jars should be taken with a special spatula in a very small amount - the piece shown in the photo is quite enough.

Secondly, can paste is rarely used, alternating their use with less aggressive products. For example, in the morning, teeth are brushed with Thai paste, and in the evening - with normal. The reason for this is the strong abrasion ability of Thai pastes, because of which a fascination with them can lead to a violation of the integrity of enamel.

The whole truth about toothpastes from Thailand: myths and reality

So we gradually came to the part of the review of Thai toothpastes regarding various myths and rumors that surround these products. Let's see how the most common ideas about these pastes are true.

Myth 1: Toothpastes from Thailand are very useful in that they have a natural composition.

Reality: There is no rigorous certification mechanism for toothpastes in Thailand. This means that, for example, only natural ingredients can be listed on a can of pasta, and the manufacturer will be modestly silent about all the “chemistry”. In addition, the therapeutic efficacy of many of the natural ingredients used in Thai pastas is not medically proven. Guayaava, bone tissue of cuttlefish and noni is a bait for lovers of exoticism and naturalness. Whether they help is a big and open question.

Myth 2: Thai Pastas harmless teeth whiten.

Reality: According to reviews, Thai pastes really bleach, but it is by no means always harmless to dental health. More often they are a kind of means for exchanging health for beauty. The teeth become white for a while, and then, due to the wear of the enamel and vulnerability to bacteria, they begin to hurt and become damaged.

Myth 3: Thai pastas are healthier than regular Lacalyuts and Blend-a-Meds.

Reality: Some components of many Thai pastas are the same as in the most common domestic or European. And in the case of abrasives - more harmful. Russian and Western manufacturers create pastes in which abrasives are prepared using special technologies that reduce the abrasive load on the enamel. In Thai pastes, these technologies are not used, due to which the manufacturer saves on creating a product and provides it with a low price. The healing properties of most exotic herbal extracts and additives are not scientifically confirmed.

It should be borne in mind that the healing effect of many of the ingredients that make up Thai toothpastes has not been scientifically confirmed.

Myth 4: Pastes from Thailand are so useful that they are all bought and advised by friends.

Reality: Thai pastas are bought because they are cheap and unusual. And also because having super profits on them, sellers have the opportunity to make good advertising. Including - ordering fake "reviews" on blogs and forums. The popularity of Thai pastas is an example of how buyers are willing to buy low-quality goods, if only they are exotic and cheaper.

As a result, buying Thai pastas in order to fully switch to their use instead of the usual dentifrices is not worth it. Such experiments can result in serious problems and the cost of further dental treatment.

However, we are all human, and sometimes I really want to try the new product. Well, this is quite possible, the main thing is without fanaticism, accurately and with a full understanding of the situation. With this approach, Thai toothpaste can do more good than harm.

If you have ever used toothpastes from Thailand in practice, be sure to leave your review at the bottom of this page.

And my girlfriend gave me a DR. At first I didn’t even understand what it was. Some kind of jar is round with a white-toothed grin пользоваться I started using it - I liked it very much, asked my girlfriend where to get it, and said that it was ordering on the Internet. I found it to my taste - with a clove, plus, to all the advantages, also an excellent refreshing effect!

I also really liked the paste in the pink herbal clove box. First, the sensitivity of the teeth increased. But after a week of application, everything went away. The gums stopped bleeding, the breath remains fresh for a long time. Kills all unpleasant aftertaste completely. My teeth are not very white, but this is not so important, I have a decent color. If the paste without box and spatula is 100% fake, do not even try.

They brought 2 jars of pasta as a gift from Thailand. Remained in complete delight! No erasure of enamel, bleeding gums, numbness of the tongue and chin. A huge plus that you need to use on the brush the size of a small pea, which greatly saves the number of pasta. Then, when these 2 jars ended a year later (I was alone brushing her teeth, and my husband and daughter could not stand the smell and taste of cloves), I began to order more. I tried all sorts: coal, and with coconut, and with pineapple, and bleaching, and herbal soft, and herbal thermonuclear, and some classic with a painted uncle on a jar. I didn’t see the cons except the price ... From Taya they brought it to me as a gift, but the price was 70 baht (about our 70 rubles). Now it costs 200 rubles due to the jump in currency, and it is a little expensive. But still, I will not exchange this paste for any colgate and splat. Excellent toothpaste, whatever would be written in this article.

I forgot to add: any Thai pasta, even with coconut, pineapple, grass, papaya, charcoal, etc., has a taste and smell of cloves. Absolutely all (!) These pastes with cloves, they seem to have no other. If someone does not like the smell and taste of cloves, then Thai pasta is not for you, because cloves are probably the main component of any pastes from Thailand.

I have chronic periodontal disease, bleeding gums. I tried all kinds of pastes that you can buy in our pharmacies. There was no sense, despite the television commercials. And only after Thai pastes did the bleeding go away. So now I recommend them to everyone, I checked it on my own experience. I didn’t have any negative moments after Thai pastas.

I use Thai pasta with bamboo. At first I really liked it, I use it for about 3 months, but a month ago my gums started to bleed, I was very surprised, because this paste, on the contrary, helps to reduce bleeding. Then I read the instructions for use on the Internet, you can use 1-2 times a week! Now I advise everyone to be careful.

I use Thai pasta for 2 years. I can’t say anything bad about pasta. It cleanses, refreshes, gums stopped bleeding. But I’m not brushing constantly, 3-4 times a week, I would use it more often, but my teeth are very sensitive, so I alternate with regular toothpaste. I recommend to everyone.

Guys, I, too, rested in Thay, and bought myself such pink jars of this same paste. At first I was delighted, the teeth were really freshened up, but after 1 week of use in the morning and evening I was simply terrified that the teeth turned yellow and there appeared as if transparent spots inside them, especially on the front teeth. Before that, when I was brushing my teeth with this paste, everything was ok, and then at some point my teeth started to break, they became very sensitive and my gums started to bleed. The fact that the teeth turned yellow, my relatives noticed. In short, I'll go to the dentist tomorrow. Now very worried. And do not use it often. Well, three times a month, that's all. And I saw the effect and let's clean the week! Now to tears!

Only today I got such a paste, because it was sought precisely for teeth whitening. The saleswoman advised I had to take it. Reviews in tyrnet are not encouraging. One is a bot, the second is negative. But from the very first application of the paste, an effect was visible. I don’t feel any inconvenience, although the teeth are very sensitive from birth. I will use it daily, in the morning - Thai, in the evening - a clean line. If I do not forget, then in a week I will comment on the result.

But I have a double impression of the paste ... I used it for a long time and constantly - the effect is excellent (freshness of breath and whiteness of teeth), but over time I began to notice the appearance of plaque, literally during the first meal after morning brushing (after reading this article I realized that the paste really erases the enamel). We'll have to return to regular pastas, and use this a couple of times a week. A pity, the paste really has to itself)

At first I really liked the toothpaste - it cleans teeth perfectly, they have become much whiter. And then I noticed that while eating, i.e. when chewing food, it breaks all teeth. Even when the pasta was over and I used the usual one, it happened. I will use Thai pasta, but not often, for additional purification. Good luck to all.
