Let's see how effective Ketanov tablets can relieve toothache ...

Ketanov is perhaps one of the most powerful and effective drugs for toothache. Considering that its main field of application is just severe, acute pains, it allows you to temporarily feel relief and forget about a bad tooth, even with pulpitis and periodontitis, when a person can literally not find a place for himself.

However, with chronic pain, especially not very severe, Ketanov is not used because of the large number of possible side effects and contraindications, which we will talk about below.

Ketanov can most effectively help with severe, acute pains, but with chronic pathologies it is better not to use it.

It is interesting

Ketanov is superior in strength to virtually all non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, and to some extent comparable to morphine. At the same time, the product does not have a pronounced sedative effect, therefore, with Ketanov toothache, you can take it during the working day: it will not affect the activity and productivity. Nevertheless, after taking the money behind the wheel of a car, it is better not to sit down.

Ketanov is manufactured by the Indian company Ranbaxy, and is available in two forms:

  • tableted;
  • and in the form of a solution for intramuscular administration.

Ketanov is used in the form of tablets against toothache.

The drug is available in the form of tablets of 10 mg

Ketanov is also made in the form of a solution for injection (in ampoules)

The price of the drug is approximately 100 rubles per 20 tablets or 350 rubles per pack per 100 tablets. The price for a set of 10 ampoules of 1 ml is about 150 rubles.

Feedback

“Then I came to the dentist for acute pain, and his schedule was very busy and he couldn’t accept me that day. And it shot terribly in the tooth, I wanted to roll on the floor. The doctor ordered me to remove the nerve the next day and prescribed Ketanov for toothache. By the way, I was 16 years old then, I still went to school. I bought pills nearby at a pharmacy and drank one at once. While I was walking home for ten minutes, the tooth had already stopped hurting. He began to pull a little closer to the night, but another pill calmed him. That's all, the next day the nerve was removed and nothing hurt anymore. The doctor also said that Ketanov is a means for irresponsible people. Like, you have to try to bring yourself to such an extent that you had to suppress the pain with this drug. ”

The composition of ketans and its effect on the body

The main active ingredient of Ketanov is ketorolac, known for its pronounced analgesic effect. After entering the body, this substance prevents the production of prostaglandins in peripheral tissues - muscles, mucous membranes. Since it is prostaglandins that are largely responsible for the development of inflammation and the occurrence of pain, a decrease in their number naturally leads to a decrease in the pain syndrome until its complete disappearance.

Ketanov does not have a specific effect on individual nerves. Since it is taken orally, its action is general, systemic, and the person ceases to be tormented not only by pain in the tooth, but also pains of a different localization and origin throughout the body.

Ketanov helps not only with severe toothaches, but also with their other localization.

Usually, toothache when taking Ketanov passes within 30-40 minutes, and the effect of the drug persists for 6-7 hours. If during this time it is not possible to visit a doctor for treatment, at the first signs of the resumption of pain, the Ketanov tablet should be drunk again. An adult can take up to 4 tablets per day without contraindications to taking the drug.

In parallel, Ketanov has an anti-inflammatory and antipyretic effect, so this medicine will help not only how analgesic for acute toothache, but also as a means to prevent severe inflammation, for example, with pulpitis or periodontitis.

In acute pain during pulpitis, periodontitis and other pathologies, taking the drug can also significantly alleviate suffering.

Usually, it does not cause any pronounced unpleasant sensations when taking Ketanov.A person after swallowing a pill does not feel inhibition, prostration, he does not have a feeling of numbness in his limbs, although some people may appear drowsy. The pain just gradually subsides.

Nevertheless, Ketanov most effectively helps with toothache only in the case of a certain accuracy of the person himself: if you continue to bite a sick tooth and press hard on it, then the pain will appear, although its strength will be much less. If the tooth is not disturbed, then the pain syndrome will disappear almost completely.

Additional components of Ketanov tablets: starch, silicon dioxide, magnesium stearate and some. others. These substances are auxiliary, and do not possess a therapeutic effect in the relief of pain.

Feedback

“I can’t say anything specific about this drug. My brother says that Ketanov does not help him with toothache in general. If the tooth really hurts, and not just aching, then after Ketanov it is still impossible to eat or drink - there is a reaction. I was prescribed it once after a difficult removal of the root, but the tooth itself was practically not sick, so I did not drink the pills. But, as I understand it, you should not expect that Ketanov will give the same effect as anesthesia at the dentist. ”

“One day they gave me Ketanov after the marathon, when a very large callus on the heel tore off. Good tool, powerful. But now I have a toothache while breastfeeding, I can’t leave the baby and run to the doctor right now, and I won’t be patient until tomorrow. Ketanov during breastfeeding is impossible. I don’t even know what to do. ”

Feedback

“I always, when my teeth start to hurt, I drink Ketanov. Last time, with a doctor’s prescription, I bought three packs of 10 tablets and now just a little - immediately take the pill and normally reach the doctor’s visit. But recently, my daughter got a toothache, I called the doctor, and he said that Ketanov is contraindicated for children from toothache. He advised him to drink Nimesil - his child at the age of 12 is already possible. But only in comparison with mine, Nimesil, of course, is weak. ”

Natalia, Podolsk

Contraindications to taking Ketanov

Definitely Ketanov is contraindicated in pregnant women at all gestational ageas well as children under 16 years of age and patients with high sensitivity to ketorolac.

Feedback

“Ketanov, perhaps, is a good remedy, only to sense from him, if you can’t buy it in pharmacies. Sellers ask for a prescription and send to a doctor. So if I could go to the doctor with my toothache, I would not need these pills! And I need Ketanov just in order to tolerate the doctor. The stupidity is incredible. Even if you beat your head against the wall with such pain ... "

Olga, Omsk

What can replace Ketanov?

The main reason why people suffering from toothache have to give up taking the Ketanov drug is the prescription of the drug in pharmacies. In these cases, you have to look for a replacement.

The tool can be bought in pharmacies only with a prescription.

The means of choice in this case are:

  1. Dolak - also tablets, a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug;
  2. Nimesil - a powder that dissolves in water and is taken as a drink;
  3. Or, finally, the good old analgin.

All these funds are dispensed without a prescription. But more powerful drugs, analogues of Ketanov, are also sold only with a doctor’s prescription. These include:

  • Ketorolac tablets;
  • Ketalgin;
  • Adolor.

An example of an analogue of the drug Ketanov - Ketalgin tablets

But in practice, it is sometimes not at all difficult to get Ketanov in a pharmacy even without a prescription. Many sufferers of toothache simply ask pharmacists how they can deal with acute pain, they ask Ketanov and explain that they do not write out prescriptions in a private dental clinic where they undergo treatment. Sellers in pharmacies usually do not resist very long and sell the drug, although, by and large, this is not legal.

Feedback

“Then I was really pushed seriously. I didn’t even think that it happens, but just before the visit to the doctor the tooth ached so wildly that my head began to spin. And I would have to go to the dentist with acute pain from work through the whole city - I simply could not stand it. I called the doctor, she said to buy Ketanov. I came to the pharmacy and found out that it is sold only by prescription. In short, there I almost fell over from the next lumbago. The seller did not push, she gave me a pill to drink and sold half a plate. Until the next day I just had enough. It is a pity that the cheek was so blown that the tooth had to be removed. After that, two more times I drank Ketanov in pain after removal and everything went away. "

    I’ve been suffering from toothache for several days, but because of the irregular work schedule, I can’t get to the doctor. Today I bought Ketanov, drank two tablets at once, the pain was terrible. Literally 15 minutes passed and the pain passed. But as soon as I was happy, it’s on you - literally after 1.5 hours the tooth fell ill again. I drank 2 more tablets, but no fig helps.

      Hello! The fact is that painkillers are not always ideal in each case. Let me explain: most often the cause of the short-term effect of the analgesic is a progressive pathology in the tooth, or, more simply, an intensive inflammatory process inside the tooth canals, leading to compression of the “nerve” and its destruction. Much less often, the drug does not work, since it simply does not fit this person. Since Ketanov, according to statistics, does not belong to weak analgesics, then blame it should be blamed here first of all.

      I think it will not be out of place to note that pain is a signal of the need to eliminate its cause as soon as possible. The surest way is to heal (save) the tooth while it is possible. In extreme cases, remove the tooth (if there is evidence for this). Even such an option associated with removal will bring much more benefit than suppressing pain with various painkillers in search of the strongest and longest duration of action.

    Hello, a week ago a wisdom tooth was hardly removed to me, now I can’t really speak, eat, and the pain gives off strongly to the temples and ear (exactly to the right). The tooth has been removed from the bottom right. Now I take ketan tablets 3 times a day. Today was at the dentist, she said that in 3 weeks it will pass. What do i do? I read the instructions now, which says that 5 days can only be 2 tablets per day! Maybe change to another pain medication?

      Hello! Given that you have had severe pain for a week, to clarify the situation, I recommend that you also consult in another clinic, taking pictures, as fragments of the crown of the tooth, fragments of the bone, or part of the roots of the extracted tooth may be left. If nothing of the above is revealed, then even in this case the doctor may suggest curettage of the hole to form a full-fledged clot for its biological protection and speedy healing.

      Judging by your symptoms, alveolitis can be suggested. Tablets in such quantities as you indicated, it is impractical to drink. In any case, the use of any other drugs should be coordinated with the doctor.
