Let's talk about the features of removing wisdom teeth located on the lower jaw, as well as about the possible consequences of this surgical intervention ...

On the lower jaw, wisdom teeth usually begin to form at the age of 20-25, although they occasionally erupt at the age of 15 and after 40. Moreover, according to numerous studies, in almost 80% of cases, their eruption is associated with certain complications. Note the most common problems due to the appearance of wisdom teeth on the lower jaw, which most often provoke their removal:

  • complications of caries (periodontitis, periostitis, osteomyelitis, etc.);
  • malocclusion and displacement of adjacent teeth (crowding);
  • difficult teething (pericoronitis);
  • the formation of cysts, tumors and various neoplasms near the roots;
  • violation of the structure and function of the temporomandibular joint;
  • chronic injury to the mucous membrane of the cheek due to improper tilt of the wisdom tooth, which can cause the development of a long-term non-healing ulcer, which, in turn, can even turn into a malignant tumor.

The photo shows a lower tooth of wisdom affected by deep caries, part of which is hidden under the gum.

It is interesting

In 8-10% of people, eighth teeth do not form at all, and women most often do not have lower wisdom teeth, and in men - upper ones. In approximately 0.1% of all cases, a larger number of wise teeth develop (basically six) - usually at the same time two wisdom teeth appear on the upper jaw on both sides.

To prevent serious consequences associated, for example, with difficult dentition of the 8th tooth, its incorrect position in the jaw, or severe carious destruction, it is important to consult a dental surgeon in time for timely help. Especially often, serious consequences are observed when a person ignores the obvious problems associated with the lower teeth of wisdom.

However, even directly during the removal of the 8th tooth from the bottom, certain problems can also arise, leading to the development of complications immediately after its removal or some time after the procedure. We will talk about all these important and interesting nuances later ...

Difficulties that often arise when removing the lower wisdom tooth

The structure of the lower jaw has a number of features that create a lot of obstacles to their easy removal in the region of the lower eighth teeth. For example, if the upper eighth teeth can almost always be successfully and quickly removed from the beginning to the end with forceps, then in the lower teeth this can not be done in 80-90% of cases.

In most cases, the eighth lower teeth are much more difficult to remove than the eights on the upper jaw.

Due to the massiveness and density of the lower jaw bone, it is not possible to carry out a normal grip and rocking of the tooth (especially in case of difficulty in erupting it, when only 20-30% of the crown can be on the surface). Even with a well-defined and non-caries-crusted crown, swaying the lower wisdom tooth, located in the thickness of a massive bone, is very, very problematic, especially when the roots have the most unpredictable number and location in the jaw.

The roots of wisdom teeth can be quite bizarre ...

A large number of curved roots creates certain difficulties in tooth extraction, so it is far from always possible to simply pull it out with forceps.

Indeed, root bends and rotations can be the most incredible. Often, the dentist has to deal with two or more roots bent at different angles, which make it difficult to extract even a tooth that is loosened by the surgeon.

That is why before performing the removal procedure, it may be necessary to make a diagnostic x-ray, allowing the dentist-surgeon to understand what he will have to deal with. This helps to avoid mistakes on the part of the doctor, and also reduces the risk of possible postoperative complications.

The x-ray clearly shows how exactly the wisdom tooth is located in the jaw - this facilitates the work of the doctor and reduces the risk of possible errors.

On a note

When removing the lower wisdom tooth, the dental surgeon is often forced to resort to various tricks, and can use a variety of tools.It’s often impossible to get by with some forceps, so don’t be surprised and don’t be scared, if suddenly the doctor starts literally cutting your tooth into parts, or grabs the chisel and starts to knock on it ...

Possible consequences of removing the 8 tooth from the bottom

Unfortunately, even after the lower wisdom tooth has already been removed, the consequences of the experienced surgery can still be felt in the future - nevertheless, a large wound surface with torn tissues around it often remains in the oral cavity. Typical problems that you may encounter at the same time are severe bleeding from the hole, gradually increasing pain, swelling of the cheeks and gums, inflammation and suppuration of the walls of the hole (alveolitis), and others.

In this photograph it is clearly visible that in the place of the removed wisdom tooth, a rather significant wound remains in area.

A lot of people know from their own experience how long they sometimes remove the lower wisdom tooth and what palette of sensations after such an intervention awaits in the very near future. On the Internet you can find a large number of reviews that paint a pretty scary picture of the removal procedure itself and no less terrible after it.

Feedback:

“I have a sad story in general. My wisdom tooth pushed everyone else from the bottom left, because of which they began to grow incorrectly. As a result, I decided to urgently remove it. And that was the worst I've experienced in hospitals. I came to the clinic, they anesthetized there, cut the gum, and then they began to twist the tooth out of the jaw! But that failed. Therefore, they began to crush it and gradually remove it from the fragments. Awful.

About 30 minutes I was definitely tormented, then they began to sew up. Then she looked in the mirror in the corridor - it was a must see. Absolutely contorted face, everything was swollen on one side, a bruise on the whole cheek. And when the freeze began to pass, everything began to hurt, the constant taste of blood in the mouth.

I woke up at night and was horrified - my cheek became 3 times bigger, all purple. In the morning I ran to the same doctor, who also gasped. And only after 2 weeks she began to resemble a person ... "

Eugene, St. Petersburg

All this to some extent really takes place in dental clinics. In addition, not a single person is insured against the mistakes of a doctor and the related consequences (sometimes, during the procedure, the doctor breaks the patient’s lower jaw due to excessive force, tears the corners of the mouth, may dislocate the adjacent tooth (7), cut the cheek or gum with a popped off tool, etc.)

Among the unpleasant consequences of removing a wisdom tooth are various medical errors, including a fracture of the lower jaw or rupture of the corners of the patient’s mouth.

However, if there are obvious problems caused by the 8th tooth from below, just postpone its removal for an indefinite period and expecting that everything will somehow pass by itself - this is stupidity, which sometimes can even cause death. The lower chewing teeth generally have a specific position in the jaw: they are surrounded by well-circulated tissues, around their roots and under them there are spaces directly bordering the muscles, large vessels and nerves. The consequences of deep-seeding infection of these spaces can be very serious and dangerous, and can pose risks to human life.

If the tooth should be removed according to orthodontic indications, delay in this often causes a persistent malocclusion, as well as problems in the work of the joint of the lower jaw (all this in the future can lead to a serious deterioration in the quality of life, and may even ruin a career for someone).

Improperly growing wisdom teeth can significantly disrupt the bite.

To spare a wisdom tooth that creates a chronic injury to the cheek means to bring the development of a malignant tumor in place of a non-healing ulcer (and this is confirmed by the corresponding statistics on the appearance of cancer in the maxillofacial region).

Therefore, no matter how frightened you are by friends, relatives, or even doctors, if there is a problem associated with wisdom teeth, then you need to solve it quickly, without delaying it for later.

Feedback:

“Recently I signed up for the removal of the lower wisdom tooth, because my cheek was swollen because of it. I came to the municipal office, there they sent for an X-ray, well, this is as usual. She brought an x-ray to the doctor: he looked at him pointedly for a long time, then examined the tooth in his mouth.And imagine, said that you urgently need to cut a tooth with the gum, and then - to sew the whole thing and go to the reception 5 or 6 times until it heals. And he immediately said that most likely everything would be bad and painful, scared me to death. So I rushed away from this almshouse ...

In general, they did not help me there and did not calm me at all. Therefore, I went to a normal private clinic, albeit not at such low prices, but then I got a wisdom tooth pulled out normally and gave detailed advice on what to do after removal so that the blood does not go and does not hurt much. So now I wanted to spit on these clinics, and then there’s something more superfluous along with the gum. ”

Severe bleeding from a hole in a removed wisdom tooth

Bleeding after removing a wisdom tooth on the lower jaw occurs more often than when the lower 5, 6 or 7 teeth are removed, because around the G8 there are abundant blood supply to the gum tissue, and the complexity of the removal procedure itself plays an important role here, when the surrounding tissues are severely injured. Blood may not stop for a very long time: in such cases, the gauze swab left by the dentist-surgeon in the hole is saturated with blood.

Among the unpleasant consequences of tooth extraction is the prolonged bleeding of the hole, the blood from which may not stop for several hours or even a day.

Such bleeding can last from several hours to a day.

On a note

The hole may not begin to bleed immediately, but several hours after tooth extraction (the so-called secondary bleeding). Let us explain this point in more detail.

Removing a wisdom tooth in the lower jaw requires good anesthesia. What kind of anesthetic should be used in this clinical case is decided by the doctor, and in order to achieve the longest possible anesthesia, adrenaline is usually added to the drug, which greatly constricts the blood vessels. That is why immediately after tooth extraction, there may be almost no blood in the hole: the so-called “dry hole” effect appears.

After 1-2 hours, the expansion of arterioles occurs, and early secondary bleeding occurs. Later, secondary bleeding (after a few days) may develop in the event of a blood clot destruction, for example, due to an inflammatory process.

Bleeding after tooth extraction can occur for general reasons:

  • with diseases associated with bleeding disorders;
  • with the use of anticoagulants of indirect action, as well as with an overdose of anticoagulants of direct action, for example, heparin;
  • with hypertension.

There are a number of factors that contribute to prolonged bleeding from a hole ...

Prolonged bleeding after removing a wisdom tooth (and any other) sometimes leads to serious consequences: worsening of general well-being, weakness, dizziness, decreased pressure, up to loss of consciousness. That is why it is so important to consult a doctor in time if the blood from the hole after tooth extraction does not stop for a long time.

Home methods to stop bleeding from a hole far from always give a result.

Severe pain after eighth tooth extraction

Postoperative pain during the first day is a normal occurrence, especially if you recall how sometimes it is difficult to remove the wisdom teeth on the lower jaw. In practice, it looks like this: after just a couple of hours after undergoing a “freeze” from anesthesia, almost every person has a pretty strong pain.

Be prepared for the fact that after the completion of the anesthetic, the entire side of the jaw, where the wisdom tooth was removed, can begin to get very sick.

That is why, in the recommendations of the dentist-surgeon, the first item is taking painkillers. And the more the gums and bone are damaged, the more powerful pain medication you may need.

Most often, to prevent severe pain after tooth extraction, it is recommended to drink the first tablet within 30 minutes after the procedure. For example, a doctor may prescribe the following drugs:

  • Ketorol;
  • Nimesil;
  • Ketanov;
  • Nise
  • Nurofen

or others

Anesthetic Nise

If the hole continues to hurt greatly in the days following the removal of the wisdom tooth and this pain is accompanied by other disturbing symptoms (for example, fever, impaired opening of the mouth, putrid odor from the mouth), then you should immediately consult a dentist for help.

Paresthesia or consequences of nerve injury in the jaw

One of the rare but very unpleasant consequences of removing a wisdom tooth paresthesia of part of the face, chin, lip, cheek, tongue - partial or complete loss of their sensitivity can become on the lower jaw. This complication is associated with damage to the mandibular nerve, which passes near the roots of the lower wisdom teeth: if a surgeon accidentally touches a nerve during surgery, then a person may then have the impression that anesthesia does not go away.

In rare cases, when the lower wisdom teeth are removed, the mandibular nerve is damaged, which can lead to partial loss of sensitivity in various parts of the face, lips, chin ...

In other words, all the signs of anesthesia that the patient feels before the procedure for removing the lower wisdom tooth remain after, and sometimes last for several weeks or months, depending on the severity of the nerve damage. With a minor injury of the mandibular nerve, paresthesia itself passes after 1-2 weeks, and physiotherapeutic treatment and the use of special drugs accelerate this process.

In more rare cases, paresthesia after tooth extraction can persist for months and even be constant.

Alveolitis

Simply put, alveolitis is suppuration of the hole, which fully reflects the essence of the process. Occurrence alveolitis after tooth extraction - this is mainly the result of the dentist’s actions, which are associated not only with the high invasiveness of the operation, throwing the infectious contents of the carious tooth deep into the hole and leaving the “dry hole” without a normally formed blood clot, but also with insufficient supply of information to the patient about postoperative care of the hole. In violation of the rules of care and hygiene, alveolitis can occur even with a normally performed removal of a wisdom tooth in the lower jaw.

A rather serious problem that sometimes arises after tooth extraction is also alveolitis - inflammation of the walls of the hole.

Inflammation of the hole, as a rule, is accompanied by pain, fever, difficulty chewing on the side of removal, putrid odor from the mouth, and also slight swelling of the face. If the disease remains untreated or treatment is carried out incorrectly, then limited osteomyelitis may develop in place of the removed lower wisdom tooth, which causes a violation of the opening of the mouth and increased swelling of the gums and cheeks.

Complications of alveolitis can also be life-threatening abscesses, phlegmon and lymphadenitis. If disturbing symptoms occur, you should seek the help of a doctor, since home treatment methods are almost always ineffective.

Summing up, it should be said that despite the certain complexity of removing a wisdom tooth in the lower jaw and the attendant risks, it will be wrong to refuse surgical intervention if there are indications for that. The help of a doctor in such situations is really necessary.

      My friend the surgeon, treating and removing teeth, once said, seeing my tears and groans: “You need to give birth, then you stop being afraid” - as she looked into the water, after a while she gave birth. During childbirth, I thought that it’s better to immediately remove 10 teeth without anesthesia. But when again after a while I came to the dentist, I thought that it’s better to give birth)) Everything is somehow relative. Now the 4th day I suffer from severe pain in the lower jaw after removal of the 8-ki, the swelling is still small, but I'm sitting on ketanol. After 2 days to the surgeon, shaking, he broke the root during removal, picking there for half an hour, removing fragments, as a result, the crunch was the same as when the root was broken. He said that he was lost in the roots of a healthy tooth, now it seems that he broke it in a healthy one, looking for one. In general, in horror, I did not take a picture, there was an abscess once already, when the upper one was removed from the same side. They cut it under general anesthesia, they would say two more days - and to the forefathers ... All this is terrible ((

    And 2 hours ago a wisdom tooth was removed to me. There is a sucrose with a small admixture of blood, saliva is full of mouth, I constantly spit in the sink. And the anesthesia has not passed yet. This is normal? The elder brother (he is studying to be a doctor, intern differently) insists that everything will pass, that everything is going as it should. The worst case scenario: wisdom teeth on the lower jaw, lying horizontally, deep in the bone, with a crown resting against the roots of adjacent teeth. This is just my case. Removed 1.5 hours. There was no pain during or after the operation. Fearfully? Yes! Painfully? Not! Swelling of the cheeks + bruise. Unpleasant, but inevitable with a complex operation. The first day it was painful to swallow. Everything passes? and it will pass)) The sutures healed, the swelling was asleep, the problems with one tooth were solved. Remained second.

      It looks like my case. But since he was not sick, they were removed according to orthodontic indications, all the more or less safely. It is only inconvenient to clean the hole (pit) remaining after the removal of the 8th immersed tooth. Every time after eating, the residues are clogged into it and are hardly cleaned, rinsed out. The doctor says that this hole should be fully overgrown, only when - is unknown))

      Tatyana, tell me how they loosened a tooth, or simply took it out of the gums? Was the gum sutured? Doesn't it hurt? The neighboring tooth (which the wisdom tooth rested on) was not damaged?

        A week ago, I removed an 8-ka, abutting the root of a 7-ki. Removal is complicated. I went to delete, knowing that sooner or later I would have to. The surgeon made an incision, drilled it with a drill, beat it with a hammer on a chisel, pulled out a tooth, put stitches. About 20 minutes, probably, it lasted. I will not say that it is very scary, but unpleasant. Anesthesia is strong. Recommendations after: apply cold every 2 hours for 10 minutes, chlorhexidine baths every time after eating, injections intramuscularly “move” once a day for 5 days (because she refused to drink the antibiotic), it is anti-inflammatory and analgesic. There was no severe pain after the end of the action of anesthesia, it was a little painful to swallow.There was no swelling of the cheek at all (the cold was given right after removal), well, if only a little and imperceptibly. The wound sometimes aches, especially when you go to bed (apparently, blood rushes to the head; I find a comfortable position so that it does not ache, and everything is fine). In principle, everything is fine, there are discomforts where the wound is, but without complications. Remove stitches after 10 days. The surgeon is good, I put implants in him 6-7 years ago. Good luck to you.

      Hello! I have the same story, sprouted 8 in the jaw and to the side with the root, propping up the next tooth with a crown ... ((The operation lasted 2 hours, the surgeon already wanted to break the jaw, because it is not clear for what reasons he sprouted right in it. And it was terrible to loosen The surgeon suffered for a long time, and I was horrified when hammers and screwdrivers were used ... Horror.

      Today is the 6th day after the operation. I had an operation with fibrin - it helps to ensure that the blood coagulates quickly, they close the cavity after the operation. After the operation, of course, scared. Even the shoulders hurt, the collarbone, the hands were shaking, the face was swollen 2 times, the mouth could not be opened, it was painful to swallow. But, in principle, bearable. I was prescribed droppers for two days and antibiotics for 5 days. Three more such teeth ... ((I don’t know if I dare.

      In general, I wanted to ask. Please tell me: I have 6 days, the edema was asleep (a bit left), it doesn’t hurt to swallow, I already feel the threads. But the main thing that bothers me is that I can’t fully open my mouth. My doctor told me on the 5th day that I need to develop the muscle now, otherwise it will atrophy and have to stretch and tear it. I can’t stand it ... Tomorrow I’ll take off my stitches, but my mouth doesn’t really open. Tell me, did you have this? Thanks in advance! So I worry and think that it’s only 6 days, that it’s too early to pull them, and it hurts ...

        Hello! I do not think that the rush in this matter will bring positive results. Gradually develop the lower jaw - this is the main task at the moment. As for the forced expansion of the jaws: I have a different opinion on this issue, and I think that this will not come to that.

        It seems to me that you need to master the basics of maxillofacial gymnastics in order to quickly achieve the result. The principle can be found on the Internet (or in the literature on dentistry), but it is advisable to coordinate the exercises with the dentist, you can even with another specialist.

      Everything is not so scary, the main thing is good anesthesia and follow all the doctor’s instructions.

She walked and was not afraid, pulling to the pulpitis did not see the point. The carious tooth was not taken to treat, since it does not lie in the axis with the others, and it was not possible to clean it properly. Despite the fact that before that she removed the eights at the top, with the lower jaw, they say it is more difficult, but I was comfortable, no horror. On the first day I drank painkillers to sleep. Then for three days everything was normal. But after 4 days I drink the pill again, my jaw aches. We will see. I think that will gradually pass.

I had a gum on the side and a cut from above, hammered, sawed the gum itself in order to save the 7th tooth. As a result, 10 days passed, I was dripping antibiotics, I was drinking antibiotics, 2 droppers a day, I drink painkillers every night, my jaw hurts terribly, I rinse 10 times a day. A blood clot inside the cavity is by no means a bad thing or a complication. The first few days after removal, this blood clot protects the cavity of the well from bacteria. In no case do not remove it, otherwise then a complication can go. Later, the clot grows into the hole. The complete overgrowth of the hole sometimes takes up to several months, depending on the age and speed of tissue regeneration in the patient.

    I am a doctor myself. Passed through it. I removed all 4 wisdom teeth (2 on the upper jaw, 2 on the lower) due to malocclusion on the recommendation of an orthodontist. Removal occurred under local anesthesia, and a small amount of general anesthesia was administered to relax. It was deleted in the operating room. The rehabilitation period was 7 days. In the first 3 days, it is very difficult due to swelling, pain and excessive salivation. The first time the seams were classic, and the second time, by coincidence, I did before the New Year, becausethere were holidays and a festive atmosphere, they put me self-absorbable seams. This is not as wonderful as it seemed to me. They dissolve for a long time, a month has already passed, and I still have discomfort in my mouth, the irritating ends of the thread (like a fishing line) interfere and are felt in the oral cavity. The procedure is really not easy. I was helped by the desire for a beautiful and healthy jaw, a smile. Thanks to the experience of the surgeon and his professionalism, there are no complications. In this matter, you need to be very careful, carefully select a doctor to remove teeth, because negligence can lead to serious consequences.

    And my advice for those who want to heal quickly is to rinse their mouth with a solution of furatsilina, chlororgixidine (0.05%). Rinse with salt and soda, potassium permanganate (diluted to bright pink; most importantly, do not overdo it so that there is no irritation of the oral cavity). The most important thing is that the mouth should be clean, after eating you need to immediately brush your teeth and rinse your mouth with the above means to speed healing. I would be glad if someone helped with advice.

      As far as I know, you can’t rinse your mouth for at least a week after removal so that the blood clot remains in place. So your advice is not the topic.

        Right! They write everywhere, and the doctor told me that in no case should a blood clot be washed out. It is a protection against infections and a guarantee of healing. Such rinsers then go with a white coating on the wound and do not heal for a long time. And the fact that it’s uncomfortable and smell can be endured, not every day teeth are removed. And other teeth will not deteriorate in a few days without thorough brushing; tooth decay is not such a quick process.

          You can not rinse, baths can be done. I put implants more than once and removed my teeth too. The surgeon always recommended baths with chlorhexidine (i.e. do not rinse, but hold in the mouth). I always did this, my mouth is clean, even plaque on the teeth does not form, although you can’t brush your teeth for several days. All without complications always.

    Yesterday I removed 2 wisdom teeth, above and below, on the recommendation of an orthodontist. By the evening, after the anesthesia had gone, pain appeared, but bearable, but I drank nurofen. Spitting blood all evening and night. This morning there is less pain, more pulling than sore, I'm sitting without painkillers. The blood in the saliva is almost over. Only a slightly swollen cheek and mouth cannot open wide. I take antibiotics as recommended by a doctor and rinse my mouth with miramistin solution. Many friends said that after tooth extraction is scary and painful, most likely, it all depends on the specific situation. Therefore, do not be afraid if someone hurts very much, this does not mean that you will have the same.

    Alyona, it’s scary to imagine which one of you is a doctor - you advise here. In no case rinse your mouth! It is possible and necessary to make oral baths, i.e. fill in the mouth with chlorhexidine, or a slightly pink solution of potassium permanganate, or furatsilin, and hold on the side of the hole of the extracted tooth. And the sedation that was used in your case has nothing to do with general anesthesia - call a spade a spade.

      Agree with you! And then everyone is advised to rinse! The dentist told me in no case to rinse or suck a clot from the hole, because he is reborn into bone tissue. On the second day, I already forgot that I was deleting my eight at all.

      In the US, all surgeons advise rinsing from 24 hours after the operation, but carefully and for some reason only with saline (although there are plenty of rinses here). And brush your teeth too. All 4 wisdom teeth were removed a month ago, under general anesthesia - a complicated case, all the teeth are still in the bone and horizontally, the nerve is very close, on the one hand the nerve is between the roots ... The swelling was big, pain. Everything went in a week. The first 48 hours the ice was applied, reclining slept. Now the only problem is the sensitivity at one point in the chin has not yet returned. But we knew that she had a high risk of such a complication - in Russia, the surgeon in the “cool” center refused to remove it for this reason. But we decided, however, decided to do it at home, found a good center for maxillofacial surgery, according to the surgeon, everything went fine. Therefore, we hope that paresthesia will pass soon. But now there are no those maxillofacial pains that tormented my daughter because of teeth pressing on the nerve. Health to all!

    The day before yesterday, removed on the upper jaw on the left - easily and quickly, without consequences. Today is the bottom. Long, disturbing. The tooth crumbled. The doctor was operating a drill. Pulled out. The cheek is swollen, it is painful to swallow. I came home, pulled out a tampon, and on it a tiny splinter, now I’m worried like. See a doctor tomorrow. Of the appointments - cold, antibiotics, antiallergic. I haven’t drunk painkillers yet, probably, anesthesia works so far.

    It just so happened that at the age of 23 all 4 wisdom teeth got out of me, I don’t understand what it was for me ... The lower right tooth began to decay, tooth decay appeared, a hole. I went to the dentist: one doctor said that access is good, you do not need to remove it, you can cure it. Because she started her mouth, treated other teeth, got to another dentist - she said, looking at my wise tooth, that access was bad, there was no point in treating, it wasn’t needed, delete it. By this time, the hole had turned into a hole in which everything that got into the mouth got stuck, and at night the whole jaw sometimes hurt.

    I decided not to pull, so that there was a hole in my nerves and that (pah-pah) I couldn’t reach the inflammation. Crepe, gathered forces, signed up for removal. Yesterday I removed the lower wisdom tooth on the right. In front of the office I almost fainted, I sat shaking, because I read all the horrors on the Internet. Stories entered my head, and that they would cut the gum, and sew up, and crush the bone, and divide the tooth into 4 parts ...

    I went in, smiling hysterically, into the office, sent to an X-ray. I came back to the office, asked for paid anesthesia - they put the "ultracain". About 6 minutes passed, they called me back, put him in a chair, the surgeon stood behind me, took some instrument resembling a figured screwdriver, I felt not pain, but such pressure on the bone. I just wanted to squint my eyes, so he crawled into his mouth with his second hand and pulled out my whole huge wisdom tooth, with huge roots and holes, in which while he was in my mouth, everything was stuck)

    I was surprised, said: “Is that all?”, He said: “If I can still I can!”. In general, he removed the tooth for me in about 40 seconds, I went happy for a second x-ray.After they said that everything was fine, don’t be ill, get better, they gave a reminder, they said to buy Nimesil at the pharmacy and drink it upon arrival home. I bought Nimesil, drank it right there, took a piece of meat from the freezer, put it on my cheek and sat in anticipation of pain after removal, which was described so violently on the Internet. The anesthesia was gone, the pain did not appear. She slept at night on all sides of her face, woke up in the morning, went to the mirror: no pain, no swelling, now I’m going to eat))

    I don’t know, I don’t want to sin on the Internet with its infernal and horrific stories - apparently, everything is individual. When I got up from a chair, I looked in the bath at my tooth, his roots were wide and plump, but even. Apparently, that's why everything went smoothly without any complications, and I think that the surgeon came across who knows his job.

    In general, what I’m leading to: people, do not delay the removal, in no case be afraid, everything goes individually for everyone. All articles that are written on the Internet are written in general terms, do not take everything on yourself. They will take an x-ray and the surgeon will evaluate your entire situation, do it right. It’s better to tolerate a bit than to kill your stomach with painkillers in the expectation that the wisdom tooth will no longer hurt and bother you, do not aggravate it) Good and healthy smiles!

If the tooth is still under the gum, or just started to erupt, it’s so easy not to get rid. They will cut 100% of the gum, and then pull it out for a long time (the bottom one for sure), so that your encouraging comment can reassure only those who have already grown or nearly grown teeth. I completely agree with you. I have a story almost like you had. The wisdom tooth did not hurt from below, but after a piece broke off, she ran to the hospital for treatment. The doctor drilled it well and sent it for x-ray. She further said that it is better to remove it. Sent to the surgeon. The surgeon looked and said that the removal would be very difficult and long and that I would come back the next day and in the morning. I was afraid to go for a week. Then I got together and went. I asked the registry to another and experienced surgeon. I came. Made at my request an import freeze. The female surgeon tried to rock him, then she knocked with a chisel three times and pulled out in parts. I didn’t feel pain at all. Removal took about 30 minutes. They put some medicine in the wound, prescribed antibiotics for five days in combination with antiallergenic and painkillers. She left the hospital satisfied. For three days I still felt after an uncomfortable state in my mouth. For two weeks I felt all my teeth - they ached. Everything is fine now.

      I forgot to say that after removal I was given an ice pack and therefore there was no swelling of the cheek and bruise.

    Today I have already removed 3 wisdom teeth. Everything is going well. I advise you to adhere to the rules: be sure to eat before microoperation (per hour). After removal, be sure to attach a cold (the swelling will be small). Do not drink or eat for 2 hours. In case of severe pain, drink painkillers. After 2-3 hours, eat. Only not solid, cold and hot food - it is impossible. I do not advise rinsing, it is possible to wash off the clot formed after removal. Avoid hot baths, drafts and hypothermia. Try to sleep and talk less. In no case do not apply hot! Try not to lie on the side where the removal was. Try to give up alcohol and smoking! And be sure to go to a second appointment with a doctor. In general, with proper care, healing takes 2-3 days. Take some time and everything will go fine!

    The eighth and seventh teeth were removed in one fell swoop for the uselessness and impossibility of their treatment. A doctor, a professional, a specialist, removed both teeth for two minutes, there was no pain, so there was an unpleasant sensation due to pressure on the shoulder and in the jaw, although the roots were tucked out. On the recommendation, he ate three hours after removal, they said they could not rinse. Four hours after the removal, the gums (jaw) started to ache, Nise drank, the pain went away. I went to bed, slept all night without problems, got up in the morning, it doesn’t hurt. For the second day, the consequences of removal - discomfort in the area of removal, the absence of two huge teeth. What will happen next, I don’t know, I’ll wait. Hope I'm lucky!

    2 weeks ago the wisdom tooth was removed below, the removal was easy, the tooth turned out to have one long root, like a carrot. They put in turunda with medicine, pulled it out three days later, the doctor said that everything was fine, rinse with herbal infusions. The first week I was very ill, I lived on ketorol, I followed all the doctor's recommendations. The second week, it just ached and oozed a little blood, the taste of blood in my mouth was felt. After 2 weeks, I went to the doctor, they said that I had to come earlier, washed the hole, again put the turunda in the tooth, two days later to approach. The tooth hurts, antibiotics are not prescribed. How much more to endure, I do not know.

      Hello Anna! At first glance, we are talking clearly about alveolitis, that is, purulent inflammation of the hole. This drug therapy seems to me unsound. It is important to take pictures and determine whether there are provocative factors: fragments of roots, sharp edges of the jaw, etc. If it turns out that everything is clean, then the principle of treatment should be changed: stop installing turunds with medicine, and neatly cure the well, form a blood clot and (according to indications) suture, reducing the wound “in size”.

      2 weeks of pain is definitely not the norm. My personal advice: go to another clinic and find out the true causes of the healing problem. If the doctor’s tactics were still within the framework of the formation of a clot without turundas and coats in the hole, it would be nice.

      I can’t but say that it would be great for a dentist to check the seventh tooth adjacent to the removed wisdom tooth for the presence of a carious cavity and (or) inflammation of the “nerve”. Do not look for a connection between the extraction and the problem with the remaining tooth, this can be an independent cause of pain, although rarely from the point of view of coincidence.

        Hello! Edema, depending on the initial "size", may go away for several days - this is normal. Sometimes it really hurts to swallow, for the extraction of lower teeth this is quite typical. You should also write that it hurts you to open your mouth, since in the area where the lower wisdom tooth is located, such tissue features.

        Temperature 37 is a consequence of the local inflammatory process against the background of removal, a normal reaction of the body to the "wound". Moreover, as I understand it, you already had swelling in the dentist’s chair.

        In general, in the matter of healing the holes after the removal of the lower wisdom teeth, correspondence consultations are a risky measure, since it is better to carefully examine everything for the condition of the wound, surrounding tissues, jaw, lymph nodes, etc., up to the blood test.So it’s best to get at least one follow-up live consultation with your doctor — and you’ll already be asleep.

    16 days ago removed the bottom 8-ku. Before this week, the gum hurt there, it seemed to me. On examination, they did not immediately notice cervical caries at 8 and recommended removal. Deleted the next day without any problems. The tooth came out well, had three roots, sutured. However, five days after this, the pain was severe throughout the jaw to the front lower ones, there was an aftertaste of pus. Drank analgin and Nise. Rinsed with chlorhexidine.

    I came to the doctor. He removed the suture and said that everything was fine, but I mixed up the taste of pus and pus itself with the medicine (?). The next day, in the morning, I spat out, as I understand it, a clot that had fallen out of a hole at night. In the next 4 days the pain grew and began to give to the temple, the head hurt, there was weakness. I came to the nearest doctor, not a surgeon. She diagnosed the alveolitis, took a picture, said that the gum was clean, had a curettage, put a bandage (?).

    The pain in the hole subsided, but soreness under the cheek (lymph nodes?) And not strong pain in the gum to the front lower teeth began to appear. Also drew attention to tachycardia. At times in the region of 4-5 in the chin there is a feeling of chill, as at the beginning of anesthesia and after, when the freezing disappears. The pain in the hole stopped, I no longer drink painkillers. Three days later the bandage fell, it smelled of rotten teeth, there was a smell and smack of pus. All this time, weakness and tachycardia remained. Again I came to the surgeon. He performed curettage again with the formation of a new clot. It got better, but the tachycardia was gone only the next day and the pressure jumped. I go in for sports, follow the pulse and drew attention to my condition, and pressure is something unexpected for me in general. I had to get my mother’s tonometer!

    There has never been a temperature for all the time. Nothing swollen and swollen. The gums are pink, ordinary. Today is the third day after the last curettage. For the first time, normal health, energy. But here the pain is some kind of wandering along the lower gum, pains appear and disappear in the region of 4-2. Also soreness under the cheekbone in the region of 4 (lymph node?), A feeling of chill in the chin and lip in the same place. I usually feel this way at the beginning when they give an injection to treat the lower 7-8 and when the anesthesia ends. The taste is bitter in the mouth anyway. I hope this is a taste of chlorhexidine. This is a concern. The doctor says that this is not related to the removal. And what is the reason for this?

    Reply
    • Svyatoslav Gennadievich:

      Hello Dmitry! A “feeling of chill” or numbness is the result of curettage, but the doctor’s guilt is minimal.The fact is that in order to save the patient from torment, sometimes a deep wound curettage is required: you never know, suddenly there was a granuloma - it gave an inflammatory process. The deep curettage either caused minor damage to the mandibular nerve itself, or it was the effect of a hematoma that slightly squeezed the nerve.

      After the procedure of implanting teeth in the lower jaw, experienced implantologists warn that for some time, due to the penetration of blood through the bone marrow spaces, temporary numbness of the jaw due to compression of the nerve will occur. This lasts an average of 1-2 weeks, sometimes longer.
      The bitter aftertaste is the result of drug treatment of the hole. The hole could be “saturated” with drugs, and psychologically you are extremely listening to your condition.

      I think that you can consult with the local therapist about the general condition, and with the dentist about the hole, but in general terms: the dynamics are positive, but numbness and “tastes” are a matter of time. I think that you yourself will not notice how your condition returns to normal, and you will return to normal life (if you have not already returned). I wish you a speedy solution to all problems!

      Hello Sergey! I think that such a violent reaction was the result of great injuries: damage to the edges of the wound, large bone loss, leaving fragments and, possibly, the formation of a good blood clot. In the future, the body began to cope with this situation (especially with the help of medications). Pain in the well with such removal can persist for a long time, but this is not a reason to think about alveolitis. Alveolitis proceeds, nevertheless, almost always acutely, that is, there are many signs that allow it to be diagnosed. If you have an acute reaction, then you should definitely contact the dentist on duty for the treatment of alveolitis. From your words, there are no such signs now. If you suspect something else (there is a distrust of the doctor: deleted everything or not), you can immediately contact the dentist, but this will not be interpreted as emergency care, although the doctor is obliged to accept you in any case. Health to you!

      Hello! I think that we are talking about the sharp edge of the bone in the hole, or exostosis. In the process of removal, a traumatic intervention occurs that affects bone tissue. Sometimes after making a wound, mistakes are made associated with leaving the sharp edges of the bone, so when the gums heal, this bone begins to be felt. I think it is advisable to consult your doctor in order to correct the "growth" under anesthesia. Otherwise, it will take a long time to endure an atypically healing hole.After all, bone tissue can “absorb” long enough - from 6 months to a year.

          Hello, Elena! So you courageously clung to the hope of not going to the doctor and once again not bothering him "for nothing." If a fragment of the alveoli was left, then often it is "removed" itself, without the help of a doctor. True, until this last moment it can interfere for a long time.

          If we are talking about a sharp bone that has not been sanded, and the gum does not simply cover it now, then the probability that the gum will nevertheless tighten this imperfection, of course, is. Moreover, at the end of the dentition there are many folds and a good thickness of tissues to solve this problem.

          It seems to me that you, Elena, want me, not seeing you in the dentist’s chair, to bless waiting for the weather by the sea and hope for the best. I can say that there are as many incredible cases of painless tooth decay to the root and almost an independent tooth loss as there are options for getting into the operating table due to spilled edema from a diseased tooth. That is rare, but aptly. There’s just a small one, but the probability that if I tell you now that you don’t have to go anywhere and just wait until the gum covers something sharp in the hole, then in a couple of months I may turn out to be a quack in your face. Even the probability of this is only 1-5%.

      Hello! I think that it is worthwhile to consult a dentist for advice (it is better to treat your doctor), since torment can be associated with a violation of a blood clot. As a result, an alveolitis or suppuration of the hole has formed, which causes pain. In any case, the doctor, based on the state of the wound, will adjust the appointment, and the healing process should already be more comfortable.

    It seems when you read that everything is so easy and not so painful. The first wisdom tooth climbed out at the age of 15, and then everyone else. The most interesting thing began when the last (fourth) got out, the first wisdom tooth began to crumble - had to be removed. After 1.5 years - the second from above! After 2 years - lower right. Two injections, cut into gum lumps, a day of hunger! Four days ago, I had to go to the doctor, because the pains became unbearable, which came to match on May weekends. At first it seemed that the ear was inflamed. She began to heal, does not go away, and then sharply the whole jaw began to hurt hellishly. On the x-ray, they saw inflammation of that unfortunate figure eight on the left, it is urgent to remove! And it began. Two injections, the doctor began the operation, the tooth crumbles, the roots do not lend themselves to forceps, the drill has gone! Drill a little, pull out the root a little, cut the gum and drill again, and so 1.5 hours! All nippers and forceps that were in the dentist’s department visited my mouth. One of the roots grew into the lower jaw and resembled a saxophone in shape.I can’t say exactly how much effort he put in, but as a result: a ragged lip, a neighboring tooth split on two sides, sprained jaw ligaments, gum scraps and a numb feeling of the lower jaw, because the hole in the nerve is affected. The result is deplorable, I'll tell you.

At the end of the operation it was, of course, sickly, I saw in the nurse’s face what I had in my mouth. The medicine was poured into the wound, sewn up. I don’t eat for three days, I just drink tea, my cheek and lymph node are swollen, the temperature rises no higher than 37.5. I’ll say from myself: before you go, choose a good surgeon! Take a picture of the hole to control the quality of tooth extraction and consult a professional maxillofacial surgeon. I am sure that a good specialist can complete this operation correctly. Since if your words are “written correctly”, then neither leaving roots, nor pain during surgery, nor excessive trauma of the intervention are signs of professional work. I can say that anesthesia in your case is an extreme option. I don’t think you want to control the situation. But anesthesia will not give such an opportunity and is fraught with risks. Judging by you, you are able to soberly assess the situation, so you just need to find a surgeon popular in your area who makes the removal of any complexity. Prescribed to drink the antibiotic Amoxiclav 2 times a day, anesthetize Nise 2 times a day and apply Solcoseryl paste after meals. Immediately on the first day, the cheek was swollen, but there was not much pain, moderate, the mouth did not open well. It didn’t bleed, but after the first attempt to put the paste Solcoseryl on the seams - it started to bleed, smeared with paste, it seems, it stopped. But she decided not to smear with paste, fearing to damage the seams. The next day, the cheek was swollen more strongly, it did not bleed, there was no pain - a little it began to ache only in the evening. On the third day, it was even more swollen (it went already around the neck), and began to bleed little by little during the day - either I didn’t understand the seams on the side, or from the hole, I couldn’t make out the hole, it’s sewn up, and my mouth doesn’t open too much. There is no pain inside, sometimes it aches, but not for long. The seams hurt more - they somehow prick and pinch (the threads are not self-absorbable, ordinary). I don’t know what will happen tomorrow. Why can swelling and bleeding increase? It doesn’t hurt practically. Should I continue to use Solcoseryl paste?

      Hello! If significant edema develops, there are pains and suspicions of seams diverging, then you should immediately contact your doctor and resolve all disputed issues during the examination. As a rule, dental surgeons always warn after atypical removal (especially) that any deviation from the normal healing process is an occasion to be examined by a doctor.

      That is why I do not have the right to cancel Solkoseril for you, but it will be useful to correct the treatment in this context to the attending physician based on the results of examination and palpation of edema. If the doctor is unable to alleviate the consequences of complex removal, even with a face-to-face consultation, then you may need urgent help from the maxillofacial surgeon in another clinic, where they perform the most complex operations and conduct “complex” patients. I don’t scare you in advance, but I set the emphasis as much as possible.

        Thanks for the answer! Was at the doctor, said that everything is normal, it’s not bleeding from the hole, but the mucous membrane. The swelling began to go away, a yellow bruise appeared on his cheek instead. There has become less blood, but it worries that the mouth does not open much, maybe because of the seams.

    Removed the top eight. A hole in the tooth formed. Thought to treat. Then he remembered that it was necessary to drill, remove the nerve, seal, take pictures. I thought, well, nafig. A tooth is the most unnecessary, since the bottom is no longer eight. And deleted it. Fast, no pain. Chick and no.

      Hello Peter! The listed medicines have side effects regarding changes in blood and urine counts. As for the operation itself, then for 5 days, the indicators with normal healing of the hole can return to normal. It is impossible to accelerate the normalization of analyzes by taking drugs. However, these drugs may not always spoil the tests. I think that you should consult with your doctor and adjust the delivery of tests: move them 7-10 days later than the intended date.

Yesterday, the wisdom tooth on the lower jaw was removed, the procedure is not pleasant (compared to the removal of the upper teeth), but you can live! 2 hours left from anesthesia, it was painful, but bearable. This morning removed the wisdom tooth. The doctor said that the tooth was not light, semi-reinforced, growing in the cheek. Pocket over the tooth periodically inflamed - rinsed with miramistin. But after hygienic brushing, the pocket became inflamed and grabbed his throat and ear. I decided that I had enough of this symptomatology. She was shaking in front of the office before going to a swoon)) I knew that I had a good doctor, according to reviews, but I still could not cope with the shaking. The dentist picks the tooth with a screwdriver for a long time, then with forceps, again with a screwdriver, forceps and so on approaches 7-8. I did not hear any crunch (I read that it was a frequent occurrence), but in the process my ear started to hurt. And now, voila, my goddess of dentistry pulled it out - it did not split, whole, small. According to the recommendations only Nise. She came home, immediately put frozen minced meat on her cheek. After a couple of hours, anesthesia began to recede, I felt how everything burns inside - slammed Nise - it became easier. The hole is pinkish. There is no clot in the hole. I hope that everything will be safe. Very proud of myself now.Well, and his doctor, of course. Choose a good specialist and do not be afraid 🙂

      Hello! I think that this is the result of a hematoma in the area of tooth extraction, which has spread to the mandibular canal, in which the mandibular nerve passes. As a result, there was its compression and loss of sensitivity. With serious nerve damage during surgery, numbness occurs, as a rule, almost immediately. Sometimes even with minor injuries, "anesthesia" does not pass either after 3 hours, or after 6, or in 5-15 days ...

      Contact your doctor to confirm the diagnosis.

I finished drinking antibiotics, the stitches have not yet been removed. There was no temperature and there was no, the tumor subsided, but the jaw in the bottom is very sore and the pain is given to the upper jaw and ear on the left side. I take painkillers 2-3 tablets a day, enough for 6-8 hours. When will the pain go away? This is creepy.

      Hello! I think that alveolitis, as an inflammatory process in the hole, has not yet lost its strength, but there is no point in talking about something serious without a preliminary examination of the wound surface and the healing state of the hole. Be sure to consult your dentist for a face-to-face consultation, since the medication treatment of alveolitis started on time improves the condition and also prevents complications. Acute pain normal for 4-5 days after tooth extraction should definitely not be. In general, painkillers are not accepted on the second day. In extreme cases, on the third day, almost all patients of the surgeon do without analgesics. That is why your case should be considered individually in a clinic with a doctor.

    Good evening everyone! A year and a half ago, removed the upper 2 wisdom teeth. Everything was ok. The moment of the lower teeth arrived (06/26/2016) and here: the doctor looked at them and said, let's start with the lung. But the removal lasted about 20 minutes, 3 roots, two broke off, one quickly got out, and the third took so long. Then a tampon, do not drink or eat for 3 hours, painkillers - 2 days, and then everything is fine. After anesthesia, however, you don’t feel very well, but it’s bearable ...

    07/12/2016, those after 2 weeks, came to remove the 2nd tooth: an injection, everything was numb, after 5 minutes the tooth was already removed. So I was glad that everything is so wonderful, but no ... The first day passed normally, painkillers. On the second day in the evening it began: pain to the ear, swelling, heaviness intensified, and during the night the whole jaw was numb and pain appeared in the hole of the 1st tooth. The temperature is 35.5, I drink painkillers. In the morning I went to the doctor, they treated the hole, put the swab with the medicine, processed it with a laser ... But the pain does not go away. In the evening, swelling, swelling, is impossible, the whole lower jaw hurts. I eat porridge with a small spoon, a warm drink (neither cold nor hot can be). Tomorrow is Saturday, there are no doctors. Loratadin drank at night to relieve swelling in the throat, swallowing is not comfortable.

    But overall, somehow a little better.

    I pulled for two years. Everyone was waiting for the tooth to erupt itself. Lower 8. Pain periodically appeared. The dentist said wait. Tormented and waited. I got to another doctor - he said, stop it, you need to remove it, it’s growing crooked anyway. A small piece came out. I looked at the prices and was upset. But I decided not to wait any longer. The surgeon did not do the x-ray. Immediately injected, waited and began to vomit. In general, two hours lasted. And sawed, and cut, and pulled. In the end, of course, the doctor said that a complex tooth. Two roots intertwine, and one is horizontal. Fortunately, it was not painful during the procedure. They did an x-ray, we bought more. Three seams - and home. Prescribe Nimesil, an antibiotic and Ketanov. Could not swallow, the cheek was swollen. After a couple of hours, I got very sick. Saw pills. Now it’s not so painful, the swelling is almost gone. There is a bruise and the mucous membrane is very sore, the seams are taken apart. But I am very glad that I did this, and I will not be tormented. Do not be afraid. A little need to be patient and all. But then live calmly.

      Hello, Tatyana! The fact is that recommendations are recommendations and that not 100% are ideal for every person. It often happens that the hole heals quite naturally, and without fanaticism regarding the fulfillment of all appointments. As for the importance of hygiene after extraction, this is without a doubt one of the main components of the most comfortable healing of the hole after tooth extraction. After removal, it is important to “move” plaque on adjacent teeth in order to reduce the risk of infection from bacterial plaque and the likelihood of bad breath - in particular.For this, a toothbrush with soft bristles is ideal for the first time (literally 5-7 days after removal). Such toothbrushes can be found in the network of pharmacies, but if it is very difficult, then you can buy a children's toothbrush for babies from 0 to 3 years. As far as I know, there is a note - “soft bristles”. It is advisable to use paste to a minimum. It is best to limit the use of such a brush only to the problem sector, and brush the rest of the teeth in the normal mode with a regular regular brush. The risk that you will injure your gums with a brush with soft bristles after removal is minimal, and with the proper level of manual skills you can ensure normal hygiene of 6-7 teeth. It is especially important to remove plaque from the inside of the teeth. The main thing is to do everything correctly and be less afraid of doing something wrong. Good luck

    Hello! I didn’t read the comments, I went to “maybe”) Lower 8 on the left side. Recently, the gum started to bother, because the tooth grew on the cheek. The doctor examined, made an X-ray, according to the recommendations of the orthodontist, they sent him for removal ... Several times the doctor rolled a tooth, he left quickly and painlessly. According to the recommendations, it was necessary to rinse (what exactly and how they did not say) and drink antibiotics (but I have a baby, so their doctor canceled it). Literally immediately after tooth extraction, the throat was terribly sore, when the anesthesia began to recede, terrible jerking pains appeared. I drank ketans, in the morning I woke up from the same pains. The cheek began to swell. During the day the pain increased. Rinsed with chlorhexidine, chlorophyllipt, soda solution + salt + iodine. Only the action of ketan was ending - it became unbearably painful (yanking pain). A day after removal, the temperature rose to 38 degrees. The next morning (2 days) I went to the dentist. The cheek swelled very strongly. The doctor washed, put the bandage on, go again tomorrow ... I don’t know how it will end, but the competence of the dentists of the municipal institution leaves much to be desired!

    P.S. I came this morning to the registry with complications, the girl said to wait in the evening until all the records were passed! If my husband had not raised a scandal, perhaps the doctor would not have gotten ...

    Question: why are such clinics needed, where you pay for everything, but you are crippled? Removal was not difficult. Apparently, antibiotics are prescribed indiscriminately to everyone!

      Hello! Often I encounter a negative attitude to free medicine for a regular lack of proper quality, as well as an expensive private one, where there are even worse cases. I am sure that in each of these systems there are professionals in their field who are ready to come to the rescue at any moment, as well as loafers, “burnt out” specialists and even wreckers (they specially maim in order to leave home early — fewer people and fewer worries).

      Here is what can shed light on the problem:

      1. A picture of the well after removal to check its quality (whether there are fragments or roots left);

      2. The drugs you have been prescribed to understand the extent of the treatment.

      Personally, I don’t like that you “rinsed” the oral cavity for almost everyone: chlorophyllipt, chlorhexidine, soda, saline, etc. I don’t understand the whole point of rinsing out a blood clot - biological protection against germs. Often, due to such actions, the effect of a dry hole and alveolitis develops. I recommend that you contact your dentist for an independent opinion, since it is problematic to determine your diagnosis in absentia.

But still torn all 4 roots, spread out in different directions.Sewn gum catgut. Swelling of the cheek is still slightly noticeable. The doctor says everything is fine, the wound is gradually healed. But I have a question - can this hole last so much time (month)? Hello! After complex removal, especially - with great trauma, the wounds heal for a long time and with great difficulty. The hole is delayed from 2-3 months to 4. The gum is fully formed in 6-8 months. It all depends on the correct tactics of the doctor during and after removal. I think that the dentist had no other way, so the doctor takes post-operative therapy with such care. You have the temperature of the local inflammatory process, I think that this will surely pass. But do you have any other somatic pathology that can provoke such a characteristic temperature?

      Bandaging is the right measure in some cases, but it definitely prevents the wound from epithelizing faster. Perhaps the doctor is simply worried about the sterility of the open wound without proper care with medication per well. This prevents its healing, but definitely protects against alveolitis.
      In any case, there is an individual approach, and it is not possible to climb into me from behind the doctor. I just focus on certain points.

    Good day to all. I read and understand that the extraction of wisdom teeth, especially the lower ones, which did not cut through from under the gums, regardless in which country, the torment is the same. I live in Germany, many will say: “But in Germany medicine is at its best” ... I assure you, I have been tormented for 4 days after the removal of the lower eight, which was practically horizontal in the gum. Removed an hour and a half. Sawed, drilled, chiselled, stitched. You can’t tell all the “charms”. The worst thing started after the removal. When removed, the facial nerve was damaged, the sensitivity of the lower gums, lower lip, chin was lost. On day 1, pain, as with normal removal. Ibuprofen helped. Edema is average. Sensitivity of the lips, gums and chin is not restored. On the 2nd day, the pain is tolerable aching. I do without painkillers, swelling in the same condition, sensitivity also does not recover completely. Day 3 ... All the same. Day 4: to all the "charms" there was a temperature of 37.2 and congestion in both ears. Doctors shrug, and the dentist and ENT. They say that everything should pass. This is horror ... You cannot convey in words what a terrible state when you don’t hear, you don’t feel half your face, you can neither drink nor eat. I take antibiotics and vitamin B. No sense so far. A panic condition begins that the sensitivity will not return. I do not know what to do. When will sensitivity to facial tissues return? And whether at all? No answer.

    Add, the 5th day. The congestion of the ears has disappeared (thank God), the temperature is normal. There was an unpleasant aftertaste in the mouth, but there is no smell (usually with alveolitis); The edema began to subside, there was an unpleasant aching pain in the region of the lower row of teeth, a feeling of fullness, there was no sensitivity of the lower row of teeth and gums from the side of the removal of the lower wisdom tooth, and there was no sensitivity of the chin and lower lip. But there is an unpleasant aching and pulling pain in these areas, alternating now with cold, now with heat, now with nipping, then goosebumps. This is very worrying. Doctors, tell me what to do and will this torment pass? Thanks.

      Hello! Of course, no one knows the situation in the oral cavity better than the treating doctors, but according to the positive dynamics (the fact that every day is getting a little better), we can assume that everything will work out 10-14 days after the removal. The point is that with complex tooth extraction, there may be a hematoma that squeezes the mandibular nerve, so the sensitivity disappears for a while. If there is a nerve injury with instruments, then sensitivity is restored in months, often in a year. You can speed up with physiotherapy, as an option, but for this you need to consult a dentist. Another option - I suggest you get advice from 2-3 doctors, dentists in Germany. I am sure that a third-party independent opinion can shed light on further tactics. While there is a positive trend, of course, you can still wait up to 2 weeks, but with the development of complications and increased symptoms - urgently to a doctor (not necessarily the same). Thanks for the question.

For 10 years my colleagues have not had a single similar complication, but I heard about how a doctor in the neighboring region encountered this, but it worked out for a couple of months. I’m talking about the fact that, firstly, this is a rather rare complication, and secondly, not the fact that you have a nerve injury during anesthesia, maybe just a hematoma compression after complex removal. So, in my personal opinion, the likelihood that you will get a similar complication, let’s say, again, is 0.00001%. Have a good treatment, fear nothing - this is the most important thing!

            Dear doctor, please give your assessment as a specialist in this field, according to the following changes: the aching teeth become a little smaller, tingling and twitching in the lip and chin become more painful and shooting periodically. Is it a recovery process, or, conversely, an even greater complication, like the death of nerve endings? The doctor prescribed 8 injections of medivitans, with a frequency of 2 times a week, and after that he injected a neurobion with 9 injections with a frequency of 2 times a week. How do you rate your doctor’s appointments? Thanks.

            Hello, Larisa! I will quote you data on paresthesia and removal of lower wisdom teeth from reliable sources, so as not to be unfounded: "Paresthesia is one of the types of sensory disturbance, characterized by numbness, tingling sensations, crawling creeps ...."; “One of the rare forms of paresthesia is a long-lasting numbness of the lip, tongue and (or) chin, which is the result of the removal of the wisdom tooth.”

            That is, I wanted to say with these quotes that you have 100% paresthesia against the background of the removal of a wisdom tooth. Numbness with tingling is a classic manifestation of the problem, but increased symptoms may not always indicate worsening. Perhaps at the moment you are listening carefully to your body, you can endure this complication so psychologically that you doubt everything, you are not setting yourself up very positively, and it seems that, on the contrary, you are expecting the worst.

            I have no data for the fact that "the nerve will begin to die out," or there will be something like that. The dentist has assigned you a vitamin B group to speed up the slow regeneration process and maximize your positive mood. It is clear that waiting for recovery is difficult. However, my information on this complication comes down to the fact that this is almost always a slow regeneration process. At the same time, it must be borne in mind that it is not known for sure whether there is a nerve damage at all - maybe its ordinary compression by the hematoma is going on.

            Why ordinary? For example, after implantation in the end section of the lower jaw, temporary paresthesia often develops with a duration of 1-3 weeks to 2-3 months. Implantologists warn about this: I can say that this is not the norm, but it is difficult to completely avoid it, if only because the distance to the nerve is different for all people, it’s possible to calculate the length of the implant, but it’s accurate to know if blood will move along the bone beams nerve endings in the lower jaw channel, impossible.It seems to me that you should either let go of the situation and get used to the idea that treatment will significantly speed up the slow regeneration process, or find “colleagues” in misfortune (I assure you, there are plenty of them, in particular in the field of implantation) and try to find out from them the features of treatment and calm down a bit, again. I sincerely tell you that I am experiencing your problem with you, but such a loop in a problem that has a long course (from 1-3 months to a year) will simply “crush” your psyche.

    Hello! In 2012, the eight on the upper jaw was removed. The operation took a long time, but there was no pain under anesthesia. Healed all weeks two, three times went to dressing + rinsed with a weak soda solution.

    In May of this year, he began to torment a wisdom tooth on the lower jaw. Grown horizontally under the gum. Remembering my torment of 4 years ago and having read a lot of “useful” information on the Internet, I went to the dentist to remove it with tears. I was waiting for a very long and painful operation, because the doctor at the very beginning said that removing the figure eight on the upper and lower jaw is heaven and earth.

    However, it was painful only at the beginning, when they gave an injection. There was no pain after the injection. I just felt that the doctor made an incision on the gum, pressed and abruptly pulled out. Just half a minute later he showed me my wisdom tooth. Everything went very quickly and painlessly. Therefore, I think that everything is individual, and much depends on the specialist.

      Maria, you were just lucky with your teeth that they were removed in one jerk. Perhaps that is why there are no complications that people who have wise teeth removed by drilling and gouging have to face. Doctors are not Gods, but I am sure that they are doing everything possible so as not to harm. And if paresthesia arises, as in my case, then you just pray that this torment will end ... It doesn’t matter how long to wait, if only it will pass at least sometime. Therefore, rushing about in search of self-help. I wish you good health!

    Removed the wisdom tooth on the lower jaw. They were removed under general anesthesia - it felt like literally 2 minutes, but in fact about an hour. The “dodger” after anesthesia was simply terrible, during the day she couldn’t not just eat, she couldn’t even drink a sip of water. Sensation as in toxicosis plus severe headache. As for the consequences of the removal, the cheek is swollen, there is a slight pain in the gum area. I drank ketanes, it became a little easier. The presence of air bubbles under the scalp from the side of the extracted tooth is embarrassing - when pressed above the ear, a crunch is heard, as if a crust of snow.

      Hello! You describe subjective sensations that do not quite fit into normal clinical data, according to which you can suggest and advise something.It is clear that the removal was difficult, in a hospital, under general anesthesia, which brought a number of problems in the form of the “outlaw” described by you (most likely, because the drug was not the best, or the dosage was selected with errors, the anesthesia and withdrawal suffered or drugs that improve the general condition after anesthesia have not been used). You can also make an assumption about the high invasiveness of the removal performed and, possibly, about the expansion of the jaw during the operation for more comfortable access for the doctor to the tooth (the price of the issue in this case is a crunch of the temporomandibular joint).

      It should be borne in mind: all that I said is only assumptions based on your subjective descriptions. An exact assessment of the situation can only be carried out directly in the dentist's chair. Thanks for the question.

    Three days ago, the son removed the lower right 8-ku. Removal lasted about an hour. As a result, the doctor said that there was only one root left that he could not pull out, but that's okay. I want to ask what is the danger if there remains one root farthest from the seven?

    Reply
    • Svyatoslav Gennadievich:

      Hello! There are risks, since this root:

      1. May have an inflammatory process at the apex;

      2. May cause inflammation over time.

      A “rotten” root is a time bomb, so leaving it is fraught with the health of your son. I am sure that there is definitely a way out of this situation: contact another dentist with a picture of the left root in order to remove it. It requires a highly professional doctor who can take up such work. Thanks for the question.

    Hello! On Friday, a hood was cut on the lower left 8-ke. The doctor has not prescribed anything. Everything was swollen: throat and cheek. Came on Monday - said that it should be so. Prescribed Lincomycin 2 tablets twice a day and suprastin at night. She began to rinse herself - Rotokan and Chlorhexidine. The temperature began to rise. Yesterday I went to the doctor again. Washed. Took a picture. Said inflammation. It would be nice to remove the tooth, but not in the general queue, another time. The roots of the 8th touch the roots of the 7th, although the wisdom tooth grows correctly. Sent home with a turnout in a week.

    The temperature is held at 37-37.5. Edema persists. The throat is sore and swollen. I finish antibiotics tomorrow. What next - I do not understand. I signed up for another surgeon for removal tomorrow.

    Can a doctor remove a tooth in such an inflammatory process? I can’t even open my mouth ... Or does it make sense to keep a wisdom tooth so that 7 does not suffer?

      Hello! The wisdom tooth was still removed yesterday. At the same time, the 7-ku was also hurt and it is a bit mobile. I suggested deleting her too. But the doctor sutured the gum near the 7th tooth and pulled the wound on the 8th.

      The operation lasted 30 minutes. The doctor was nervous and sweating (my mouth did not open completely). Appointed Ciprolet A (5 days), Claritin, Nise (3 days).

      Today is 2 days after removal. The temperature jumps from normal to 37.5. The tumor on the gum and throat has not yet gone. There are aching pains. And swallowing hard. Tell me, please, why is it salivating all this time? And is it normal that the throat does not go so long? (a week before removal and now).

      Reply
      • Svyatoslav Gennadievich:

        Hello! Increased salivation is most likely due to the fact that there is constant irritation not only of the wound after removal, but also of the oropharynx. As for the inflammatory process that creates discomfort in the throat - it almost always accompanies the removal of the lower wisdom tooth, within 5-7 days, but this does not mean that we are talking about a disease. That is, inflammation due to trauma and infectious alveolitis are not the same thing.If there are symptoms of alveolitis, it is not only painful to swallow or there is discomfort behind the extracted tooth, but even the mouth is painful to open, the temperature is high, swelling of the cheek, submandibular region, severe pain that often does not stop painkillers, etc.

        Despite the fact that you do not have these symptoms at the moment, it still does not hurt to contact the dentist for a full-time consultation.

    Removed the figure eight below. Grew thirty years on the cheek. But everyone hoped that it would even out. Removed in 10 minutes, without complications. Two days later, inflammation began. Swelling, pus, and continuous pain. Prescribed antibiotics, pain medication. Today is the 5th day. The swelling has passed, there are almost no purulent discharge, but the pain is unbearable. There were no seams, the hole was huge. I rinse with an irrigator and put an antiseptic in the hole. It is necessary to remove one more from below, but, apparently, sooner than six months later, I will not dare.

    11/16/16 removed the 8-ku, the lower jaw. Anesthesia entered the vessel, there was severe sharp pain on the entire side of the face, the cheek turned white and doubled in the eye. Removed the tooth quickly. On the 3rd day I feel a slight numbness on the side of the face where the tooth was removed, and slightly aches.

    • Svyatoslav Gennadievich:

      Hello! Yes, you correctly noticed about the complication associated with getting a needle into the lumen of the vessel where the anesthetic was injected. This happens infrequently, but at the moment it does not apply to emergency conditions. It’s just that the anesthetic has a vasoconstrictor effect (adrenaline, which is part of the drug, has it), which causes temporary pain, “whitening” of tissues and other not always pleasant sensations. As for numbness, it is more complicated here. The fact is that this can be as a result of a nerve trunk wound when the needle is brought close to the site of the mandibular nerve exit from the opening of the lower jaw during anesthesia, or the compression of the same nerve trunk by a hematoma after complex removal, or (the worst case) - injury of the mandibular the trunk with tools (elevators, boron during root cutting, etc.). Each of these categories defines a different duration of further existence with such a symptom. If the numbness, as you write, is slight, then there is a hope that there is nothing to worry about. In general, only the attending physician knows about the "strange" moments during the operation, perhaps he will be able to shed more light on the nature of your symptoms.

    11/19/2016, the lower 8 got sick, it was Saturday, I had to wait for Monday (since I live in the countryside, the dentist does not work on weekends). 11.21. He came to the dentist. Having looked, the dentist said: we will treat the tooth. After working for 2 minutes with a drill, he said: the tooth opened, come 24.11. All this time I’ve been on painkillers since the 19th. From the unceasing pain of the dentist visited the 23rd. He put the medicine in the hole in the tooth, saying that if the pain becomes stronger, you will have to remove it, but he (the dentist) does not undertake to remove them. 11/26. I went for 250 km to a private clinic, because already with difficulty opened his mouth and a tumor appeared under the lower jaw in the area of the lymph node.As usual - the image, anesthesia, was removed. 30 minutes passed from the entrance to the building to the exit from it. Recommendation not to rinse and pain medication. Today is 11/28. A tumor in the area of the lymph node is slightly smaller than a chicken egg and hard as a stone. The mouth does not open properly. The temperature is 37.5, it hurts to swallow, it gives into the ear and the entire right side of the face hurts. Well, in the area of the dimple, the gums naturally swelled. I went to the therapist and was sent to the dentist, in whom I had the first two appointments. After the examination, he prescribed antibiotics, ciprolet 2 times a day and suprastin before bedtime, nimesil and rinse with a solution of soda (why rinse, still okay). The only thing that bothers and worries is that the tumor under the jaw does not shrink. What is it and why - none of the doctors told me anything concrete. When will the improvements begin? Already 2 days have passed, and the tumor is only growing.

    Update as of November 29, 2016: relief has taken place today, pus has gone from the hole. Where it comes from is not clear, it may have become painful. But now there is no pain. Svyatoslav Gennadievich, now I need to visit the dentist? Perhaps the napkin that I put in the hole came out and I need to clean it?

      Hello! Sorry for the late reply. I am glad that you have outlined the prospects for recovery, but it is necessary to visit the dentist, since only an examination in the oral cavity gives an accurate picture of what is happening. In case of certain doubts, the dentist can prescribe an x-ray of the hole to search for possible left tooth fragments, which often stimulate the purulent process.

      Since you were clearly “promoted” with the useless treatment of a purulent tooth, especially as specific as the lower wisdom tooth, a lot of precious time was lost. After removing such teeth, relief does not come immediately. A lot of things affect: the quality of the removal performed, and the competent assignment of the necessary recommendations, and the responsible implementation of these requirements on your part. Naturally, your body does not need to be discounted either - the immune response of each person is individual.

      I am confused by a number of points in this management of the extracted tooth: for example, why do I need some kind of “napkin inserted in the hole” and why a cut in the transitional fold in the projection of the tips of the roots of the wisdom tooth was not made, given that according to your description we are talking about periostitis. An additional outflow of purulent exudate would not hurt, in addition to “a clogged hole with something.” Apparently, your body wants to be so healthy that the outflow of pus on its own found a loophole, which I’m glad about (and the doctor could provide drainage). It is necessary to visit a doctor, so as not to miss the important thing in the postoperative management of such a complicated removal for many reasons.

    Already deleted 3 eights, there was another 8 left for deletion, the bottom just. The first time I came in, shaking with horror (some of the top ones were removed). 20 minutes they pulled out a tooth for me, came home staggering, drank 1 tablet of ketanov. The next day, a slight temperature and dawned, about 2 tablets of ketanov per day. After that, it was only the impossibility of brushing her teeth normally for several days that prevented her, she cleaned only one side and in the front, and did baths.

    The second time - also the top 8. I arrived with acute pain, died, it was also not clear - the top one was 8, or the bottom. After anesthesia, when it turned out that they had “guessed” with the tooth, I was already so prettier (as the pain went away) that I didn’t notice the removal, the rehabilitation was exactly like the first time.

    In both cases, nothing had to be sewn up, just formed a clot and sent home.

    A week later, I went to remove the bottom opposite. The doctor did anesthesia, looked for a couple of minutes, fiddled and said: "Do not be surprised and do not twitch." And here - bam! - the impression was made that the bell was blasted on the head and the sound was like that 🙂 It didn’t hurt a bit, but from the sound I caught on and again didn’t notice the extraction of the tooth itself (then the doctor explained to me that it was she who split the tooth in order to remove it faster).Then, according to her, I would have to sew, but because I have prediabetes and healing problems, she advises instead to lay a special thing. I agreed, I got used to trust doctors. In general, she laid a turunda of various small fibers in the wound (according to her, bark and herbs - she listed them, but I do not remember them). And this time I had no temperature and pain after removal, already on the same day I worked normally, and the next day I felt great. Healed even faster than the upper, but the taste of herbs in the mouth remained at least a week.

    I’m going to delete the remaining eight soon, and I can’t even google this thing that I was laid down. Is this normal practice? Or am I just lucky what worked?

    In any case, I can say for sure that I am ready to remove any number of teeth, for me it is much easier than, for example, treating pulpitis. It doesn’t hurt, only 1 visit and rehabilitation is minimal. But I understand that this approach will not lead to anything ...

      Hello! If 2 weeks have already passed and there are no other symptoms, then we are talking, most likely, about the deformation of bone tissue after a complex operation. During the removal, the dentist had to create access to the wisdom tooth and cut it out (it is possible to hollow out the jaw bone), so the result was a specific relief of the alveolar bone process. It is best to try to consult with another dentist in person, so as not to think.

Personally, I do not support this approach, but when there is a certain urgency and urgency, then why not. If we are talking about severe suppuration of the eighth tooth or lack of space in the dentition, I recommend urgently removing the tooth and not rely on persuasion to cut the gingival “hood” (especially since this practice is extremely controversial and does not always bring success).

    Hello. My son’s wisdom tooth was removed, lower right, 12/6/16. The doctor said if she was sick, then drink a nise and rinse her mouth with soda. December 9 in the evening I began to complain that it was painful to open my mouth. 10-11 day off, you will not get to the doctor. On December 11, after dinner, the edema went below the cheek. On Monday morning, she and her son went to the dentist, she said that the hole was delayed and the inflammation went down, it was necessary to come earlier. Now only operate.Sent to the hospital, maxillofacial. They looked and said that the inflammation is 50 to 50, let's try to treat it like this. They prescribed injections of cef and Trichopol tablets, they said that it was necessary to make a vodka compress and provoke it. If the edema goes further, then the next day for surgery, if it remains the same or wakes up easier, then after a day at the reception. Day and night there was a high temperature, in the morning the edema went down under the chin. Immediately put on the operation. The next day, in the evening, we came to him, he talks, crooked mouth. There was no doctor. In the morning they learned that the nerve was hurt during the operation. Now there is a tube in the section so that the residual pus comes out. After the tube is removed, physio will be prescribed. And whether the lips will be restored in place - no guarantee. Advise what to do and what to do?

I can’t see with my own eyes what condition your son’s maxillofacial region has, and without any reliance on the actual situation, I can’t say how quickly the recovery will go (and whether it will go at all). The situation itself is complicated when it comes to some medical errors and delays in treatment. I advise you to trust the last team of doctors (who recommended making a vodka compress for diagnostic purposes). If the nerve is not hurt very much, then it can take from several weeks to several months to recover. Physiotherapy usually speeds up the process.

      If you feel that your son is not feeling better, there is negligence of the staff or suppression of the real facts, then you have the right to seek fair punishment, and your son to receive treatment in another state dental institution of a higher level. After 2 weeks, the cheek and swelling of the left temple began to swell. The pain is severe. I had to go to the reception, put the medicine, prescribed an antibiotic once a day, baths. The day after that, an generally unbearable pain on the left, Nise (immediately 3 pcs.) Does not help, I had to drink the second antibiotic early. A day after that, it became better, but the tumor at the temple is larger, on the cheek on the left, too. I had to go to the reception a day later. They didn’t put the medicine in the hole, they said that it was falling out. Is damage possible or has the salivary gland been blown out on the left? They gave a referral to an ultrasound with suspected sialadenitis of the parotid salivary gland. Is this damage, or blew, or something else? On holidays, ultrasound did not work in medical centers.

      Hello! The case is complicated. After assessing the condition of the hole, I would assign a picture to determine the presence of not only left fragments, but also to monitor the condition of the roots of adjacent teeth. It bothers that a purulent complication arose after 2 weeks. It does not look like alveolitis, since its symptoms appear on 2, maximum 4 days. Perhaps, of course, this is a complication of alveolitis, which proceeded in a latent form. Again, the strange spread of edema towards the temple. I would definitely check the seventh / eighth upper teeth on this side for problems - sometimes patients come with so many running (destroyed) teeth that their sequential removal due to purulent complications even with a 2-3 week difference is no longer surprising).

      According to the information you provided, I also can’t exclude the possibility that the root of the eighth tooth was removed, considering it to be the cause of the problems, or maybe the seventh tooth was the culprit initially? examination in the dentist's chair. Health to you!

    I sit the second day in quiet horror. I am 22, and I have formed four huge 8s, besides, located under the bone and pushing the roots of neighboring teeth there. The doctor said that the operation will be difficult, with cutting off the jawbone, which will not allow you to simply pull out your teeth. I’m terribly afraid, but I will have to do it. I want to go to maxillofacial surgery to do under general anesthesia. It is frightening that these horizontal teeth are simply huge and with long roots, although in general I am small in build, and the jaw and oral cavity are generally small in size (like a child's).

    Tell me, please, what do doctors do when a tooth from below is part of the lower jaw? Does the bone build up? How long will it take to grow?

    Reply
    • Svyatoslav Gennadievich:

      Hello! No matter how the tooth is located in the jaw, it is still not soldered to the bone tissue. However, it is not possible to remove it classically. The doctor works as follows: makes an incision on the gum, where the tooth is located in the picture, exfoliates the gum, cuts the bone with cutters and (or) burs, and releases the wrong wisdom tooth. If possible, then picks up the elevator, and he goes all out; if it lies horizontally or upside down, it is sawn into several parts, after which each part is removed separately by elevators. On average, this operation takes about 20-40 minutes, a maximum of 1-2 hours, if a large number of teeth are removed. If you want to perform multiple extraction of wisdom teeth at a time, then anesthesia is preferable, and local anesthesia is better for 1-2 extractions. After removal, most doctors fill the place where the tooth was with artificial bone (materials for restoring a new bone). Then they suture and give a set of recommendations. Typically, the hole initially heals within 2-3 months. The feeling of comfort comes much earlier: in 1-2 weeks it becomes more or less tolerant, often even earlier (for everyone in different ways).

    • Svyatoslav Gennadievich:

      Hello! I think that you have experienced gum swelling after removal. In principle, this is a normal state when edema lasts no more than 3 days with moderately expressed other symptoms of inflammation (pain, temperature, dysfunction - that is, pain when swallowing, chewing, impaired opening of the mouth, etc.). If the symptoms increase every day, then you need to urgently see a doctor. The doctor usually in such cases takes a picture and checks the hole for the presence of roots, splinters and other foreign material. If there are any, this is the cause of all the symptoms, and if not, then it remains to eliminate only the symptoms themselves. In any case, the competent implementation of all the doctor's recommendations is the key to success.

      So the bump can be not only the result of “picking” (edema that occurs immediately after complex removal), but also the result of an inflammatory reaction - protecting the body against the background of a traumatic tooth extraction.

    Hello! During the treatment of the lower 6 in the picture, the doctor noticed a blackout behind the 8 tooth. Sent to the surgeon, he said that this is a periodontal cyst. Deleted. As the surgeon said, he put drainage in a hole (2 cm bandage, saturated with iodine). Every 2 days I go to dressings.From the first day, I am worried about severe pains in the upper jaw and teeth, the pain gives to the temple and ear, the head hurts, below it is the 6 tooth that has been treated now (it is filled with calcium) and it hurts and really hurts. I'm saved by analgesics. Today is already 5 days. There is a positive dynamics: I can open my mouth, talk normally, my general condition is normal, my temperature is normal. But the pain, especially in the upper jaw and bone, is very exhausting. The surgeon says that is normal.

    Question: 1. Is this normal? 2. Does the doctor do the right thing, changing my dressings (or what is this?), My hole goes a little on the cheek, a cyst was cut out there - maybe because of this such treatment tactics? Just when they removed 8 at the top, they put the medicine there, which itself resolved. Thanks!

      Hello! I answer the questions in order:

      1. Severe pain lasting 3-4 days after removal is, generally speaking, not the norm. However, in your case, the moment is monitored by the attending physician, bandaging is done and everything is done so that the difficult postoperative period passes with maximum comfort, so there is no reason for special concern. Despite this, the inflammatory process is probably still active - hence the severe pain.

      2. The tactics of the doctor may be correct if it does not harm. But I can’t say for sure whether everything is okay here (I need an examination in an armchair). A pain symptom is an individual reaction, and it can confirm that the doctor is doing something wrong, but not in all clinical cases. As for the “bandage drainage”, this, according to a number of dental surgeons, is a somewhat outdated method that was relevant in Soviet times, when there was no other option for the prevention and treatment of alveolitis. Once, in principle, it worked, and not bad.

      The treatment of the sixth lower tooth also bothers me: when treating periodontitis, there may be a painful reaction, but not strong and not for long. If the tooth is not being treated correctly, the result may be pain, which just often gives away from the lower tooth to the upper jaw. It is useful to check the treatment of canals of the 6th tooth with the help of a picture and get a consultation in another clinic if you feel that the therapy is going somehow wrong (for example, too slow positive dynamics).

      Hello! Edema after removal of wisdom teeth is often often accompanied by difficulty opening the mouth - this is due to the anatomical location of the eighth teeth (the spread of edema captures the masticatory muscles of the jaw). Usually, improvement occurs within 3-4 days, and other symptoms (if any) also gradually disappear - this is the so-called positive dynamics. If this does not happen, and the mouth, on the contrary, opens worse and worse, then you need to urgently consult a doctor. There are also special exercises for developing the jaw. The best thing about their appropriateness for your clinical case is to consult with your doctor.

    Good evening! Today I deleted the lower left 8, the doctor did not take the picture, although at first he wanted to, then for some reason changed his mind. After freezing, he began to press hard on my tooth, it seemed to me that now he would break my jaw. It was such a force that I did not have enough air, and somehow still twisted it, but it was unsuccessful. Then come with forceps - the tooth crumbles, it presses again ... Somewhere about 20 minutes this horror lasted. He eventually pulled it out.The most interesting thing started now after the anesthesia had gone away - such pains began, as much as urine does not endure. I drank nimesil, the pain has subsided now, already I thought that I had the wrong tooth removed. Although now I read that 8-ka everyone hurts a lot after removal. Let's hope for the best.

      Hello! Usually in two weeks the pain when swallowing completely disappears, and the origin of the bump generally raises a lot of questions. This may not be past swelling, or the lymph node may have increased due to the inflammatory process - it is important to consult a dentist and check if there are any risks to the normal healing process of the hole. Self-medication is undesirable, it is better to trust professionals.

    4 retarded wisdom teeth were immediately removed from me. After 4 days, the swelling disappeared, the head did not hurt, there was no temperature. Today is day 8, but the mouth opens halfway, is this normal? When should it open normally? What should I do? Tell me please.

      Hello! Considering that 4 wisdom teeth have been removed immediately, normal opening of the mouth will become possible approximately within 2 weeks, a maximum of 3 (this is if healing will occur without additional problems). The fact that the mouth has more or less begun to open is a positive trend. Given that you do not have other symptoms of concern, there’s no point in contacting a dentist right now.

      There is a set of exercises to improve mouth opening - physiotherapy exercises for the maxillofacial area. Finding these exercises is not difficult, the only advice is to do the exercises without tension, fanaticism and excessive zeal. What is needed is not speed, but quality. Thanks for the question.

    My lower wisdom tooth was removed today. He was ill for 1.6 years. He ached, cut through and pressed on the next tooth. Once I had a little gum cut. But this morning I woke up, and I have a flux. As a result, everything was swollen, the surgeon arrived, removed. The procedure is not pleasant. But the pain after anesthesia is incredibly strong. For 7 hours nothing has helped (neither Nurofen, I don’t know how to help myself). The doctor severely cut the gum, sewed me up with several sutures, and it also pains me a lot. People, do not pull to pain, remove immediately.

    Three days ago, she removed a wisdom tooth in the lower jaw. Removal was difficult, but I just cut the gum and got it whole. I thought that they would break the jaw ... In the morning, the mouth did not open well, but by the evening everything had returned to normal (although the temperature was 37.3). The next day the temperature subsided, and there was no pain, but the gum and cheek were swollen, the mouth opened 2 cm, no more. It’s hard even to eat porridge. Moments taste the blood. I’m so afraid that there will be problems with the jaw, as it painfully opens ((In the morning I’ll call the surgeon. Who knows, is this normal? Is it worth worrying and afraid, after all, only three days have passed ?!

      Hello! It’s worth it to see a doctor already because the extraction of the tooth was difficult and, moreover, it was a wisdom tooth. Violation of the opening of the mouth against the background of local edema is almost normal, if not for a series of "BUT", which the dental surgeon controls after this operation. After establishing the exact cause of this problem, it is especially important to start developing the jaw according to the correct scheme: without excessive efforts, smoothly, gradually (without fanaticism).

      The only thing I can say without examination: according to statistics, practically every second patient, to a greater or lesser extent, has violations of opening his mouth after removing the lower wisdom tooth, that is, very often. This symptom lasts most often from 2-3 days to a week.The exceptions are traumatically performed removal of complex wisdom teeth, especially in a hospital, where this period is objectively delayed up to 2-3 weeks.

      Health to you!

    • Svyatoslav Gennadievich:

      Hello! It may well be connected, since the lymph nodes are often involved in various pathological processes of an inflammatory nature. After tooth extraction, a wound occurs, and in response to it, the immune system takes certain actions. This struggle of the body often leads to lymphadenitis - inflammation of the lymph node. Sometimes this process intensifies with the involvement of infection in the area of removal - with alveolitis, as an option. That is why you should contact your doctor or a maxillofacial surgeon for help so as not to miss complications. Thanks for the question.

    5 days ago I removed my tooth of reason ... I still can’t eat like a normal person. I can’t open my mouth more than a centimeter. And I don’t know how long this will continue ...

    The fact is that during the removal, the surgeon used a tool similar to a screwdriver and hollowed with a hammer. I think that the mouth does not open not because of the tooth, but because of damage to the jaw. I do not know what to do. Although the surgeon is a man with 29 years of experience.

      Hello! The procedure for removing teeth with a chisel and a hammer is quite dangerous and traumatic, often in the area of removal there is a pronounced swelling of the soft tissues. It is he who provokes the contracture of the masticatory muscles with a violation of the opening of the mouth. With severe tissue damage, the jaw may not open well for up to 1-2 months. That is why it is so important to start developing it on time. In order for this to happen correctly, you should contact the maxillofacial surgeon and get recommendations on a set of exercises for TMJ. The sooner you start these special exercises, the greater the chance that your mouth will open in the next 1-2 weeks.

    Yesterday I removed the bottom 8-ku. They made an injection in two places, waited for the action of freezing, and then with one jerk in 2 seconds the doctor pulled out a tooth. He grew up with me exactly, was no different from the neighboring 7 and 6. The dentist advised me to remove, because its treatment will cost 5-8 thousand, but in fact, it is not needed and you can do without it. I hesitated for a long time, but then it began to hurt, collapse, and even a small piece broke off. As a result, she came and deleted.

    Freezing passed after 5 hours, and before that, the face was numb and the tongue was wooden. All this time there is a strong salivation, I spit on napkins, wait for it to stop. The doctor did not give me any appointments; I myself asked what to do. He says you can’t rinse for 2 days, and from the 3rd day you can rinse with sage or chamomile. Spoils, of course, for now, even a little in the ear gives or glands. I think this is the norm. I saw my tooth after extraction - it turns out that it has a very long root, I was so surprised.

    I went to the clinic according to the policy, I paid only 260 rubles. for the injection of Ultracaine Forte.

    The lymph node on the right under the jaw is inflamed. Without pain. After 3 days, pain also appeared. And his teeth seemed to be squeezed. The therapist sent to the dentist - the tooth is not visible. Took a picture. Lies in the gum and props up other teeth.

    They scheduled the operation in the early morning, immediately warning that it would be difficult. The operation lasted 1 hour 50 minutes. They took intermediate shots. Sawed the tooth completely. 2 roots looked in different directions. They made two additional injections of anesthesia during the operation. At the end, both roots were taken out and sewn. Now is the evening of the second day. There is practically no pain in a calm state. While trying to chew something, it hurts so far, but I think it is quite logical.Swollen cheek, mouth does not open more than 2 cm.

    I drink augmentin, suprastin and nise for pain. Rinse with chlorhexidine. I visited the doctor today - he said that everything was fine there, there was no suppuration.

    What I want to say: according to the doctor, it makes no sense to pull with such teeth. Since sooner or later they will let you know. From myself, I can say that yesterday was not the best day in my life. These are extremely unpleasant feelings when they try to extend a tooth, make great efforts, and he does not go. When a small file is in the mouth for a long time Well, and when anesthesia is released. Take care of your teeth!

      Hello! See your dentist, as nerve compression may be associated with a hematoma or edema. Numbness just happens because of this squeezing. It is better to conduct an examination and diagnosis: most likely, physiotherapeutic treatment will be needed to accelerate the process of reducing edema, which means to improve the situation of paresthesia (numbness). Paresthesia will pass only after a decrease in the degree of compression of the mandibular nerve. You should not panic, but you will have to go to the doctor to quickly normalize the condition and prevent deterioration.

      Hello! Well, although it’s not necessary to run very fast, you should consult a doctor, because the timing and symptoms may well be the beginning alveolitis, which is better to fight before the onset of serious purulent manifestations in the hole and the tissues surrounding it. The doctor should examine the wound for the presence of fragments of the tooth, the presence or absence of a blood clot, as well as plaque on the gums near the hole.

      According to the situation, an x-ray of the hole is made in order to search for foreign bodies (tooth roots and their parts). Only after diagnosis and determination of the cause of the problem is treatment carried out. Its course depends on what the doctor finds. If tooth roots are found in the hole, they are removed with anesthesia. If this is alveolitis against the background of a violation of the recommendations or mistakes of the doctor, then a wound curettage (with anesthesia) is performed, a new blood clot is formed and drugs for home treatment are prescribed.

      1. You have such an arrangement and orientation in the jaw of this retinated tooth that it is impossible to solve the problem otherwise, as soon as at the level of ChLH;

      2. Or in the clinic where you had your teeth removed before, there was an excellent level of preparation and, in a sense, “healthy indifference” if you were at risk of removing complex teeth at a level other than the HF;

      3. It is possible that you were advised of this option of removal from a commercial point of view - I will assume that this type of intervention may be beneficial for the clinic to receive increased income from a complex operation.

      But I understand your logic (and even resentment). A simple example: a person under anesthesia underwent surgery in a hospital to correct the nasal septum and mucous membrane, but he breathed normally for only about a year. After the torment, he turned to the clinic, where he corrects the mucosa with a laser in one day without anesthesia (under application), and has been breathing normally through his nose for more than 5 years. And such cases a carriage and a small cart will be typed.

      But the world has changed.

    Good day to all! Today is the 11th day I’ve removed the bottom eight. I went to the doctor on the fourth day of pain - it turned out that it was growing, it was covered with gums, respectively, it was removed with the mucosal-periosteal flap folded back. The tooth was sawn through bifurcation, absorbable sutures were applied, the operation took about 30-40 minutes (according to the doctor, not the most difficult). The pain, while the anesthesia was withdrawn, was hoo, drank painkillers. The temperature did not increase, the swelling on the cheek side lasted 2 days. And all would be fine, but the pain (exactly the same one, because of which I went to the doctor) persists to this day. In intensity a little less, however, I sit on painkillers (2 tablets per day). I didn’t read the comments, I thought that up to a week the pain is normal, so I went to the doctor on day 8. He cleaned the hole, as far as I understand, laid the medicine, said, most likely, the pain will now pass. But alas. Tomorrow I go to him again. In general, this is a comment for those who have pain for a long time - you are not alone. Well, and if you tell me what is the best way to act now, I will be very grateful. I can unsubscribe about the result of a new trip to the doctor ...

      Hello! I am not a supporter of putting “drugs” in the hole, since sometimes they do not bring relief, but appear like a foreign body. It is much more beneficial for a well to have a well-formed blood clot, as this is the best biological dressing.On the other hand, I don’t know how “clean” your wound is: there are no fragments of a carious tooth, fragments of bone hanging on the gums, tops of roots left in the hole, granulomas, cysts, etc.
      Sometimes the hole is very painful due to the sharp edges of the bone, which were not corrected during complex removal. Sticking over the gum, at the level of the gum or the sharp edges of the walls of the hole below the gum often interfere with the normal course of healing. Hence the pain, sometimes severe. So there can be many causes of pain.

      Since there is no picture and accurate data for a quality operation, it is difficult to assess the situation and advise anything. In extreme cases, if it is possible to get advice in another clinic, then it is better to do this - in your situation, an examination by an independent expert will only be good.

Please tell me what could it be?

    • Svyatoslav Gennadievich:

      Hello! I just can’t do without an examination, but I can first say that the angle of the bone can be exostosis - the growth of the bone against the background of traumatic tooth extraction. Most often, exostoses need to be removed. Or it can be a corny sticking wall of the alveoli, which the surgeon did not notice and did not adjust, but it was already significantly tightened by the gum. Since you are talking about the loss of sensitivity of the face and teeth, then there is a traumatic manipulation (not necessarily due to the fault of the doctor - often the clinical situation dictates its own rules).

      I recommend that you consult a doctor, assess whether the current situation is a threat and, if necessary, take appropriate measures.

    For a long time (about 10 years) the lower eights are trying to cut through. Signed up for deletion. May 24th was a long (about an hour) and difficult removal of the right eight. The tooth was located directly, but "rested" on the jaw, so, as the doctor said, he was not destined to be born. The root was widened from below and rested against a 7 tooth. They put lidocaine, cut it, chopped off the jaw (pierced the cheek deeply, but not right through it), used a chisel and a hammer. The entire tooth was extracted, a lump of some kind with Vitaon medicine was laid. On the third day, she was able to swallow saliva without pain. After 10 days, the jaw opened without pain, then the threads climbed (a lump of medicine). There was no temperature at all.

    Today, June 15, the gum has not completely grown together - it seems that the jaw is bare, there is discomfort. Also, under the mucous membrane of the cheek, the edges of the bone of the socket of the removed eight are felt, pressing on the 7th tooth. Probably, the dentition began to shift. The picture is this: behind the 7th tooth, the gum is partially partial, a bone is visible closer to the cheek, the cheek presses on the 7th tooth, inside which is the edge of the bone, and below this place (at the "foot" of the 7th tooth) the scar on the mucosa in the form of a cut, passing to the place where the bone is exposed. How to be in this situation?

    • Svyatoslav Gennadievich:

      Hello! Since the removal was associated with significant grass of soft tissues and bones, then after it the doctor was required to correct the walls of the alveoli (so that there were no sharp edges), gum plastic, coupled with suturing, which would minimize clearance. Often still put artificial bone in the hole to accelerate its regeneration, also suturing.

      If you didn’t have this, then closer to 100% this is why the wound heals, “open to all winds”.

      Consultation of the maxillofacial surgeon will be useful in your situation - it is possible that correction of the alveoli and gingival margins with wound closure will be required.If left as is, then the minimum that will be is a long-term natural restoration of the crest in the area of the wisdom tooth (from 6 months to a year after removal).

      Hello! After complex and (or) unprofessional removals, the hole heals taking into account the defect formed by the doctor, and sometimes this gives the patient a lot of discomfort. In your case, the hole from the bottom is already practically formed for such a period (month). Alternatively, you can use the irrigator, set it to minimum mode and clean the gaps with a warm water jet. Then the unpleasant odor will stop, and the spaces between the teeth will be cleaned. Subsequently, you can increase the pressure of water to regulate an adequate level of hygiene.

The most important of them are trauma during surgery to remove the tooth and the presence of purulent processes on the roots.Only the attending physician or the dentist in another clinic has the right to cancel antibiotics, but only after examining the patient and collecting an anamnesis. In absentia, no doctor has the right to cancel your drug in absentia.

      1. Go to another clinic in which your acquaintances, friends are confident and find a good dentist-surgeon or maxillofacial surgeon;

      2. Take a picture of the hole with the root left (there may also be parts of the crown, granuloma, cyst);

      3. After diagnosis, perform curettage of the well and removal of all foreign material that was left in it;

      4. According to indications, stitching and hemostasis;

      5. Get an appointment from a doctor and carry them out;

      6. Come to the hole examination for serious symptoms (high fever, severe pain, swelling, etc.), as well as scheduled follow-up examinations to analyze the dynamics of healing.

      I do not recommend reassuring myself with thoughts that the tooth root left in the hole somehow “dissolves” itself or comes out without intervention. It is better to solve the problem at the current stage than to wait for complications in the future.

      Hello! The duration of edema and pain after complex removal of the retarded wisdom tooth in each case is different and depends on many factors, including the individual characteristics of the body. Most often, unpleasant symptoms accompany a person for 3-10 days, but sometimes swelling lasts longer.You really should not be too much afraid, since the patient’s fear most often interferes with the attending physician, and it is often impossible to solve the problem without removing the tooth with a single excision of the hood (there are serious risks of a purulent process in the jaw bone near the wisdom tooth).

Yesterday, the doctor managed for about 20 minutes. But when removing, apparently, the nerve was touched, while there was a tingling sensation in the chin area. Today I woke up, I thought that the anesthesia did not pass. It was precisely the area in which the nerve transmitted its impulses yesterday. I read this article and calmed down a bit. Is this a normal situation? Hello! Slight numbness (paresthesia) may result from a hematoma in the region of the mandibular nerve. Since tooth extraction (judging by your description, it lasted only 20 minutes) was not difficult, the likelihood of mechanical injury to nerve fibers with a tool is small. I think that this is the usual compression of a nearby trunk with a hematoma. Most likely, you will feel relief within 1-2 weeks. It’s good that you are positive.

      However, if there are no improvements in 2 weeks, I recommend that you consult a doctor for advice. It may be necessary to conduct physiotherapy.

    On August 31, a wisdom tooth on my lower jaw was removed. He grew horizontally, did not even cut through, so the surgeon had to open the gum, pull out, then sew up. The first 3 days I sat on ketanov, 2-3 tablets per day. On day 3 I went to the reception, the doctor said that everything was fine, in a week to come remove the stitches. And on this day in the evening hellish pains began in the temple, when swallowing, in the ear, under the chin, and a ripple appeared in the gum. All these symptoms were earlier, but bearable ... And now, the pain medication does not help. Today is the fourth day after removal, and he is the most painful. Tears flow from pain ... I don’t know what to expect tomorrow.

      Hello! Most likely, you are faced with alveolitis. I recommend not waiting a week, as the doctor said, but urgently contact him now to process the hole with anesthesia and adjust the recommendations. Otherwise, you risk not getting relief, and your torment will continue (most likely, they will even intensify).

    Today removed the wisdom tooth, bottom left. The removal process itself was insensitive (although the doctor cut the gum and drilled the tooth three times, and pulled it out for a long time, then sewed it up). The tooth rested on a neighboring tooth and could not grow itself.

    Anesthesia passed five hours after the operation, I drank painkiller and antibiotic. Now 7 hours have passed, and the cheek is wildly sore and constantly swollen, like a hamster on one side. I can’t open my mouth, but everything else is in order.

    So do not be afraid to pull out a tooth. That's what happens after - much more painful 🙁

    And please tell me, my left lower eight grows with a hat in the direction of seven (already close), it does not hurt. One root is crocheted.The doctor said that you need to saw off the hat, and then cut the roots. How painful is this (based on practice)?

    Reply
    • Hello, Cyril! Such teeth are often often removed by cutting the crown and root parts. Removal itself is usually painless, because the level of modern anesthetics is very high. However, it often happens that after surgery, patients experience intense pain, and it is difficult to predict such things in advance (that is, there may not be pain).

      Depending on the complexity of removal and the characteristics of your body, the intensity of pain in the postoperative period will also depend. In any case, you will be prescribed painkillers that will help you to comfortably endure this period.

    I have 2 lower “eights” lying strictly horizontally. I found out about this when the gum on the left was inflamed and swollen. At the dental clinic, they performed excision of the mucosa and prescribed antibiotics in order to relieve inflammation. It was shown to me to remove the left tooth without fail (although I refused to do this in a budget clinic). I turned to a private, where instead of reassuring, they told me that a fracture of the jaw during the operation, damage to the nerve, which could lead to consequences even for a lifetime, is possible. I understand that these are possible consequences - I read a lot about “wisdom” about tooth extraction, nevertheless, I hoped that this was unlikely. Now I'm afraid to go to this doctor. Is it normal that the doctor, as it were, declines his responsibility in advance, saying “it can be, and I must warn you”? Is the doctor really unable to avoid such things, and is this really purely my problem due to poor tooth positioning? Well, I agree about the nerves, I saw in the picture that the roots are located right next to them and it's hard not to hurt them. It seems that the roots of the teeth are already touching them, but with a fracture of the jaw - is it too much?

    Reply
    • Hello, Nadia. The doctor does not relieve himself of responsibility, but warns of possible consequences, since the removal of wisdom teeth is a complex manipulation, and the patient should know about postoperative phenomena in advance. As for the fracture of the parts of the jaw during removal, this practically does not happen, it happens extremely rarely.

      Therefore, do not worry much, choose a dental surgeon with experience, and everything will be in order.

    The first of November removed the wisdom tooth. Although, I must say, at first they cut it, and then they pulled out a tooth - the tooth flew out 1.5 meters. Sewn in, put in drainage, prescribed an extra rinse and pills, sent home. So, I was saved from severe pain after anesthesia by taping the cheek and chin. It heals for a long time, pain gives in the ear and throat, it hurts to swallow. And helped with edema gel Kinesis (from the blood plasma of maral) and periodic taping. Well, even though the mouth opens, the wound is clean. Stitches will be removed 10.11. Tapping with the lymphatic drainage method is very helpful.

    Good evening. She removed the lower wisdom tooth on the left side after she was terribly sick all night at the end of July. Removal was not very difficult (antibiotics were not prescribed). The doctor said that he had completely deleted everything (brought a review shot). After removal, there was swelling of the cheek during the day (doing cold compresses). The next day there was a temperature and chills (for several days), there was no swelling the next day. The place of the extracted tooth bothered me, the jaw also hurt.

    During the first month after the gum was tightened, a maroon color furrow appeared and pain was periodically present. I came to the reception again, appointed a picture - everything was normal. The doctor offered to clean, but I refused due to the fact that I needed to fly to rest (pain in the jaw persisted, but not severe, I did not drink pills).1.5 months passed, I returned from rest, the pain was rare, then completely disappeared.

    But a couple of weeks later a sharp piece appeared - I apparently pressed and it went out. A very decent splinter, or piece of bone (the top is sharp, and the bottom on one side is notched, and in the section like a tubular bone). I went to the doctor who was removing - he said that everything was normal, it could be a partition or a sharp edge. Washed and let go (yes, I still insisted on the picture). I took a panoramic shot. She has already consulted with 5 surgeons, 4 of whom say that everything is normal, and 1 does not exclude osteomyelitis (something is not like in the picture, although the picture on the bone is clear). He said to drink the antibiotic Amoxiclav, 10 days.

    At the moment, the gums are pink, not inflamed, but there are walking pains. Sometimes the gums will hurt and everything goes away (I use metrogyl gel), and sometimes pains in the lower jaw, but I do not take painkillers. I forgot to say: a couple of times there were pains that reacted to the hot - I went to the therapist, she said that root 7 was visible. She prescribed an X-ray of 6, 7, 8 teeth (in a panoramic picture 7 I saw deep caries, 6 with granuloma). But so far I haven’t gone to heal. I want to hear your opinion. Thank you in advance! Health to all! Everything is individual.

      Hello! I think that a fragment of bone was originally left after the removal of the lower wisdom tooth - this almost never leads to a serious complication, but sometimes creates some temporary inconvenience for the patient.

      Hot pain often indicates that in any tooth there is either pulpitis or periodontal changes, which your doctor says (6 tooth with granuloma). Less often, pain from hot can be a sign of caries - in this case, when examined in the oral cavity and when checking a specific tooth for a cold pain reaction, it can also take place. In any case, it is necessary to treat identified problem teeth. But to touch the hole (to produce curettage) after this time has passed is hardly advisable.

Because she did everything slowly. The main thing is to help the doctor, that is, relax, open your mouth to the end and try to help her when she touches him.

    • Hello Yulia. To remove the second wisdom tooth, it is enough to wait for the stage of the beginning of epithelization - you will need to wait 7-10 days. Even if after this time there will still be a deepening, but at the same time it will be filled with a pink gum and you can chew on this side painlessly, you can sign up for the next removal.

    Today, the daughters removed the bottom eight. After 2.5 hours I came out in tears. The torment is not finished, since not all were deleted. Is this really permissible?

    • Hello, Alexander. An operation to remove a tooth can sometimes really take considerable time, and it does not always go smoothly. The difficulty is usually that the tooth is almost completely in the bone and can lie on the mandibular canal, inside which the nerve passes. If this nerve is damaged, then certain parts of the face can remain insensitive for a long time (less often - forever) - as if anesthesia had not departed. Therefore, dental surgeons, acting responsibly and realizing their capabilities (their experience, for example, as well as the presence or absence of one or another equipment) sometimes do not complete the operation.

      But in any case, there should be adequate pain relief. I recommend contacting an experienced maxillofacial surgeon to clarify the situation.

    Hello! My son had a difficult eighth removal 10 days ago.2 days ago, the temperature rose 39, which in a day fell to normal. Now about seven swollen and aching pain. Why?

    Reply
    • Hello! Most likely, the tooth hole was inflamed. You urgently need to see a doctor so that he conducts an audit of the hole, otherwise an abscess may form on the gum. Inflammation 8 days after tooth extraction could occur for various reasons, but most likely, the contents of the oral cavity got into the hole, which led to a complication. Now it is important to take the necessary measures in time by contacting a dentist-surgeon in order to prevent further deterioration of the situation.

    My lower eight got sick. Naturally, pus. I don’t know how he lay with me, it seemed, it was visible from the outside. Deleted - it was something! The injection was weak, as a result, they hollowed. I already thought that they would never pull him out. They told me to sleep right away, when I get home, it will hurt. But after what I endured, I no longer saw the pain after! My teeth were broken, but not much. Healed in a week.

    And I didn’t have 8-ku, but the retarded 5-ku was removed, as well as the rotten 6-ku and 4-ku (3 days ago). 5 sat very deeply and rested against 4. For more than an hour, they sawed and drilled and shook it with an elevator. Two anesthesia. As a result, I could not get out of the chair, the pressure jumped, they called an ambulance. From the pros: no swelling, the pain was only on the first day. Of the minuses: part of the lip and chin were numb.

    Today they removed 8 of me on the lower jaw. I didn’t feel any more pain. There was trembling, she grabbed the chair with her hands - she was shaking with a chair for a couple 🙂 The doctor often changed devices (I closed my eyes so as not to see these pieces of iron). There was a crunch, pain, groans! After the tooth was removed, the pain subsided immediately. Shiver did not pass for two hours, probably. I am satisfied with the result so far - no swelling, no bruising, only a sore throat and opening my mouth is sick. Prescribed to drink an antibiotic. The operation was done free of charge at a local clinic. Clever doctor is a master of his craft!

    People who write negative reviews, talking about the suffering during and after tooth extraction, simply amaze their meekness ... You do not understand this, and judge the doctor. The doctor does not scare, but really evaluates the picture and explains it to you. And any surgical intervention is a serious matter. How can a fresh wound after tooth extraction not hurt and not bother? You cut yourself with a knife - also wait until the cut heals. And here is the extraction of the tooth! It is not necessary to find fault with the doctors, but to listen to what they are telling you and to help - first of all, you need this, not the doctor. If you think that this is easy and simple, and you have a negative attitude, then why go to the hospital - do it yourself yourself, if you are so smart ((It is very sad that we have such arrogant and ungrateful people!

      Hello! In 3 weeks of normal healing, alveolitis could not develop. Very rarely, there are delayed complications if the doctor did not remove the entire tooth (for example, a broken root remained in the hole). If now we are talking only about the gums, then almost always it is just getting food into the hole. It is solved by anti-inflammatory rinses. If there is no positive dynamics, find a doctor after all (you may need to take a picture to control the quality of tooth extraction).

    Yes, I also suffered from the pain of a wisdom tooth. They removed it to me, and the result was not very pleasant. The fact is that after 2 days the right side of the jaw began to hurt, and there was also a taste of decay. Plus, it hurt to open my mouth. I don’t know what will happen next, but I hope only for the best. Although as they write here, you need painkillers, but I have already drunk quite a lot of them, and am tired of everything. I don’t know what will happen next, but it’s better not to delay the removal of this tooth. Good luck to everyone and good health.

    Two days ago, she removed the lower eight under general anesthesia. The operation lasted exactly one and a half hours. After all the horrors that they write about removal under local anesthesia, I would never have decided on it. There was no pain at all after the operation, but another problem arose - apparently, a nerve was hurt, and now I do not feel the gum and lip on the right (as if under anesthesia). I’ll go to the doctor tomorrow. I hope this passes soon ...

    Guys, I'm a fighter - an athlete. If I delete the eight, will it take half a month? And then the jaw will not become weaker? In general, will it be possible to hit into it later? Or is it better to remove an adjacent tooth? My eight lies horizontally, rushing adjacent teeth on top of each other ((

    Reply
    • Hello, Yegor! Regarding the weakness of the jaw after the removal of the 8th tooth - yes, there is a certain logic in your thoughts.

      For half a month, the hole of the extracted tooth will not heal. This will take at least 3-4 months. As for your assumption that "it is better to remove the adjacent tooth" - no adjacent tooth should be removed without indications. And blows to the jaw are generally better not to miss.

    This morning removed 8-ku, experienced a complete nightmare in her life. The doctor did not take a picture, and then could not understand why the tooth does not go. Constantly pressed the tool into the tooth (breaking it or what). For 1 hour and 15 minutes I was under such torture. I thought that the jaw would squeeze out. It is now one in the morning, the teeth are numb, the lips, too, the corner of the mouth is ripped off, oozing. Lips in injuries, stomatitis appeared, cheek swollen ... I can’t even open my jaw. Terrible sight! The doctor advised only painkillers. All. Has the doctor done everything correctly and will there be enough painkillers for me to recover now?

    Reply
    • Hello, Elena. In such cases, it is usually recommended to follow the instructions of the doctor who performed the operation to remove the wisdom tooth, since it is this doctor who has complete information about your health condition. However, taking into account the symptoms that you described, you need to not just drink painkillers at home, but rather make an appointment with the doctor and be under his periodic supervision. If there is any doubt about the competence of the doctor, then you can make an appointment with another specialist. In any case, after such a traumatic intervention, control by the doctor is very desirable, and will reduce the risk of complications to a minimum.
